According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , on the morning of November 12, the Ministry will organize the 80th Anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector (1945-2025) and the first Patriotic Emulation Congress at the National Convention Center.

Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports continuously set records

Mr. Nguyen Xuan An, Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), said that in recent years, patriotic emulation movements in the whole industry have been deployed regularly and continuously, associated with key political tasks such as building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, eliminating temporary housing, implementing office culture, innovation and digital transformation, and the campaign to get rich - clean up the land database.

"Along with that, many specialized emulation movements were launched extensively in each field such as developing ecological agriculture, advanced new rural areas; applying VietGAP production processes, traceability; protecting and developing forests; minimizing plastic and nylon pollution in the field of natural resources and environment...

Thanks to that, the emulation movement has become a direct driving force to promote agricultural restructuring, protect resources and the environment, and effectively respond to climate change," said Mr. An.

According to Mr. An, in 5 years (2020-2025), the average growth rate of added value of the whole industry will reach 3.12%/year, achieving the target set by the 13th Congress as well as the 5-year Plan (2.6 - 3.0%/year), the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production will increase by an average of 3.52%/year.

Agricultural growth has made an important contribution to the country's common goal of curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro-economy, creating millions of jobs, and increasing income for rural workers.

In 2023, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports will reach 53 billion USD, so the target for 2024 assigned by the Government is 55-57 billion USD.

2024 marks a special milestone for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery exports, with a record turnover of 62.5 billion USD, an increase of nearly 19% compared to 2023. This is the highest growth rate in the past two decades.

Major agricultural products such as rice, coffee, vegetables, wood, cashew nuts, and seafood all recorded impressive growth, contributing significantly to reducing the country's trade deficit.

Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports continuously set records with 11 items exceeding 1 billion USD, of which 7 items exceeded 3 billion USD.

In the first 10 months of this year, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 58.13 billion USD, up nearly 13% over the same period last year.

It is expected that in 2025, the entire industry’s export turnover could reach 68-70 billion USD if the last two months of the year reach about 10-12 billion USD. Thus, it is likely that this year’s agricultural exports will continue to exceed last year’s record.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will receive the First Class Labor Medal.

Regarding the work of commending and promoting advanced models, Mr. An said that in the past 5 years, the Agriculture and Environment sector has been honored to receive many noble awards from the Party, State and Government: 15 individuals were awarded the title "National Emulation Fighter"; 65 collectives received the Government's Emulation Flag; 4 Independence Medals; 379 Labor Medals; 606 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.

Ministers of previous ministries have awarded 525 titles of Emulation Fighter at the Ministry level, 471 Emulation Flags, more than 7,000 Certificates of Merit and nearly 8,000 Medals to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.

The work of propaganda, setting examples, and replicating advanced models has been promoted through specialized pages, columns, commendation conferences, exchanges, and discussions. Many good models and good practices in new rural construction, poverty reduction, application of science and technology, environmental protection, etc. have been spread throughout the industry and localities.

"On the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment Sector (1945-2025) and the First Patriotic Emulation Congress, the sector was honored to be awarded the First Class Labor Medal.

At the same time, 30 cooperatives, 24 typical farmers and farm owners, 57 collectives and 151 typical advanced individuals in the 2020-2025 period were honored," Mr. An informed.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien emphasized that, with the motto "Tradition - Innovation - Development - Sustainability", the 80th Anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector is not only an occasion to pay tribute to generations who have contributed, but also a milestone to open a new development stage - towards ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers, associated with effective and sustainable management, exploitation and protection of resources and environment.

"Promoting the glorious 80-year tradition, the whole industry continues to promote patriotic emulation, innovate management thinking, apply science and technology, digital transformation, contribute to building a rich, green and happy country, realizing the aspiration of 'a strong, prosperous, green and sustainable Vietnam'" - Mr. Tien said.
