On the morning of November 7, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang had a meeting and worked with Mr. Martin Kabaluapa, Director General of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) offices, on the occasion of the two sides signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on nature conservation and sustainable development.

At the beginning of the working session, Minister Tran Duc Thang emphasized that the Vietnamese Government always pays special attention to the conservation and development of nature. “Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security , relevant agencies and local authorities to implement a joint program to prevent and combat illegal hunting and trafficking of wildlife. This program will start in November 2025 and we believe it will bring positive results, contributing to the protection of Vietnam's biodiversity,” he said.
Recognizing WWF's contributions over the past 30 years of operation in Vietnam, Minister Tran Duc Thang highly appreciated the nature conservation, habitat restoration and technical support projects that the organization has accompanied Vietnam. He affirmed that Vietnam always values the cooperative relationship with WWF and hopes that the organization will continue to accompany, provide technical support and resources in action programs for green development.

“We are committed to working closely with WWF to turn initiatives into concrete and practical actions, serving the common goal of developing ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers and protecting nature for a sustainable future,” the Minister emphasized.
In response, CEO Martin Kabaluapa expressed his deep sympathy for the damage caused by recent natural disasters and floods in Vietnam, and thanked the Government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and relevant agencies for creating conditions for WWF to carry out its conservation mission.

“It is a great honor for me to be here today to meet the Minister and the leaders of the Ministry on this important occasion. On behalf of WWF International, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Minister for his trust, cooperation and long-term vision in the field of nature conservation,” he said.
WWF-Vietnam partnership towards innovation, responsibility and sustainability
Director General Martin Kabaluapa said that over 30 years of cooperation between WWF and Vietnam have created a sustainable foundation, based on respect and a common goal of building a future where people and nature thrive in harmony. He also appreciated Vietnam's leadership role and global vision in promoting biodiversity conservation, reducing emissions and implementing the "30x30" target, conserving 30% of land and sea areas by 2030.

“Vietnam’s efforts demonstrate its pioneering role in building a positive future for nature and sustainable development, which is also the vision that WWF pursues,” he added.
Mr. Martin Kabaluapa said that the organization will mobilize its global network in more than 100 countries, provide technical support, share scientific experience and accompany Vietnam in implementing scalable, effective and practical solutions.

“Today’s Memorandum of Understanding is not only a connection but also a step forward in the development of the partnership between WWF and Vietnam, a relationship that is geared towards innovation, responsibility and sustainability,” he emphasized.
At the end of the working session, Minister Tran Duc Thang thanked General Director Martin Kabaluapa for his sharing, and affirmed that Vietnam will strive to achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, considering nature conservation and green development as important foundations of the national strategy.

“Vietnam hopes that WWF will continue to be a reliable partner, accompanying us in conservation and sustainable development programs. I hope that in 2026, we will meet again to summarize the practical results of cooperation, spreading values to the community and the planet,” said the Minister.
The working session ended in a solemn and friendly atmosphere, opening a new phase of cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam and WWF International, aiming for specific, substantive and sustainable results.
On the occasion of his visit to Vietnam, General Director Martin Kabaluapa expressed his deep sympathy for the damage caused by recent natural disasters and floods in Vietnam, and on behalf of WWF International, sent to the Vietnamese people affected by storms and floods a support amount of 80,000 USD to overcome difficulties in the coming time.
