Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien: The Agriculture and Environment sector is always an important pillar of the national economy.

On the morning of November 5, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien chaired a press conference on activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector (1945 - 2025) and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress.

Promoting tradition - Towards a green, prosperous future

Sharing at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien affirmed that, after 8 decades of formation and development, the Agriculture and Environment sector has always been an important pillar of the national economy, contributing to ensuring food security and livelihoods of tens of millions of people, protecting natural resources, biodiversity and ecological balance.

Whether during war, the period of renovation or the period of deep international integration, the industry has always been closely linked and supported each other between the two fields of agriculture and the environment, affirming the role of "support" of the economy , the foundation of sustainable development and social stability.

“The 80th anniversary is an opportunity for the entire industry to review the glorious tradition, pay tribute to generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers who have contributed; at the same time, arouse the spirit of innovation, creativity and aspiration to rise up in the new period - the period of green transformation, development of ecological agriculture, circular economy and sustainable growth associated with environmental protection…”, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien emphasized.

With the motto "Tradition - Innovation - Development - Sustainability", the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector is not only an occasion to pay tribute to generations who have contributed, but also a milestone to open a new stage of development - towards ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers, associated with effective and sustainable management, exploitation and protection of resources and environment.

Promoting the glorious 80-year tradition, the entire Agriculture and Environment sector will continue to promote patriotic emulation, innovate management thinking, apply science and technology, digital transformation, contributing to building a rich, green and happy country, realizing the aspiration of "a strong, prosperous, green and sustainable Vietnam".

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien also informed more about the preparations for the 80th Anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector (1945 - 2025) and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress - important political and social events of the Ministry.

Activities have been implemented methodically and thoughtfully, with events organized such as the Achievement Exhibition, the 2025 Autumn Fair being successful... In addition, the Ministry is also preparing a publication summarizing the development process of the industry over the past 8 decades, summarizing all achievements, milestones, lessons learned, and at the same time determining orientations and solutions for the period 2026 - 2030. In particular, the Ministry has received many articles from Party and State leaders, Ministers, former Ministers and two documentary films are being completed to be shown in the exhibition space.

“The preparations for the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the sector were carried out carefully, elaborately, and thoroughly censored to ensure solemnity and completeness, demonstrating the spirit and identity of the Agriculture and Environment sector in its journey with the country,” said Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien also expressed his deep gratitude to the press agencies that have accompanied, shared, and provided timely information over the past time, contributing to encouraging and spreading the emulation spirit and being a source of motivation for the whole industry to successfully complete the tasks of 2025, creating a premise for the period 2026 - 2030.

Removing bottlenecks, determined to soon remove the EC's "yellow card"

In his general assessment of the recent results, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that in terms of institutional development, legal documents related to decentralization and delegation of power have been updated and fully submitted for approval. The Ministry is finalizing a law to amend 15 laws, removing "bottlenecks of bottlenecks", while drastically cutting down administrative procedures, creating favorable conditions for businesses and people. The leader of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment emphasized that institutional removal is a prerequisite, along with drastic and substantive administrative reform.

Regarding production results, September growth reached 3.33%, October and the first 10 months of the year all showed positive changes. Rice output reached 39 million tons, equal to 99.2% of the plan; livestock production was affected by African swine fever but increased by 5.1%, poultry increased by 2.9%, aquaculture increased by 3.1% with an output of about 9.7 - 9.8 million tons; forestry is estimated to reach 31 million m³ of wood.

Total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products reached 58.13 billion USD, up 19.2%, with a trade surplus of 17.59 billion USD. It is expected that the whole industry will reach around 79 billion USD by 2025. This is a remarkable result in the context of the global market still having many fluctuations, high input material prices and slow consumption demand.

In addition, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien affirmed that the fight against IUU fishing is still a task that "must be done every day, every hour"; at the same time, he requested units to resolutely and persistently implement the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister to soon remove the EC's "yellow card". In parallel, the Ministry is implementing Resolution 57 on science, technology and innovation, considering this a strategic breakthrough for green growth, improving productivity and added value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

"To implement Resolution 57, we must be determined, regularly hold review and urging meetings; we must definitely complete assigned tasks," the Deputy Minister emphasized.

Regarding natural disaster prevention, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that storm No. 13 is forecast to be strong, the Ministry has proactively directed inspection, forecasting, and preparation of response plans and production recovery after the storm, promoting experience from natural disasters in 2020 and 2021 to minimize damage and ensure overall growth of the whole industry.
