
In Hamlet 3, Village 2 – the most severely affected area, many houses are still in disarray, mud has flooded in, damaging fences, furniture and household items. Here, more than 40 people including youths, militia, local police of Tuy Phong commune and volunteers from neighboring localities are actively supporting people to dig soil, clear mud, clean houses, collect garbage and overcome the damage.
Mr. Nguyen Thuan, Head of Tuy Phong Commune Military Command, said: “Immediately after the incident, we mobilized all forces and coordinated with other units to help evacuate people to a safe place. When the situation stabilized, we mobilized all forces to urgently help people clean their houses and repair the damage. From November 2nd to now, 200 soldiers, police, union members, youth and volunteers have participated in clearing mud and cleaning houses for about 40 households so that people can soon have clean and safe places to live. In particular, we urgently cleaned 2 schools so that children can return to class and continue studying.”
According to Tuy Phong Commune Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Vu Cat Tien, after the flood receded, the Youth Union members and youth actively joined the people in cleaning up mud, cleaning houses, and restoring the living environment. In addition, the Commune Youth Union also stepped up propaganda work, guiding people to implement measures to prevent and control epidemics, and ensure environmental sanitation after the flood.
Not only local forces, many organizations and volunteers from neighboring communes have come to help people. Mr. Bui Nhu Khanh, a volunteer from Lien Huong commune, said: “When we heard about the damage in Tuy Phong, 30 brothers in the group immediately set out to support the people. For the past 3 days, we have been cleaning mud and washing houses together, especially helping households with elderly and lonely people. Everyone just wants to contribute a little bit so that people can soon stabilize their lives.”
Mr. Le Cao So, village 2, Tuy Phong commune shared: “Looking at the house full of mud, I didn’t know where to start. Luckily, everyone came to help, scooping mud, cleaning the walls, and rearranging the furniture. Seeing everyone not afraid of the hardship, with dirty hands and feet but still smiling and encouraging, I was really touched.”
On the afternoon of November 5, dozens of relief convoys of organizations and individuals from many localities continued to pour into Tuy Phong commune, bringing necessities such as rice, instant noodles, drinking water, milk, blankets, warm clothes and clothes to support people in affected areas. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tuy Phong commune opened a point to receive relief goods and received many necessities, food and provisions from benefactors. The Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tuy Phong commune initially provided support to 137 households, each with 1 million VND from the commune budget reserve, and will continue to review for additional payments in the coming days.
According to the report of Tuy Phong Commune People's Committee, as of the afternoon of November 4, the whole commune recorded 207 households and more than 100 hectares of production land, crops, plants and livestock damaged by the water reservoir rupture incident of the Vietnamese Farm project.
Implementing the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Tuy Phong Commune People's Committee issued an official dispatch requesting Viet Farm Company to immediately stop storing water in reservoirs and urgently lower the water level to a safe level to avoid a recurrence of the incident. At the same time, the local government continues to implement solutions to overcome and stabilize people's lives, ensure regional safety and social order.
