The first district in Hai Duong to harvest winter-spring rice

According to the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Hai Duong, Kim Thanh is the first locality in the province to start harvesting winter-spring rice.

From May 22 to 26, farmers in some communes in Kim Thanh district such as Tuan Viet, Ngu Phuc, Phuc Thanh, Kim Anh... started harvesting the 2024 - 2025 winter-spring rice crop.

By the end of May 26, the whole district had harvested about 15 hectares, mainly short-term glutinous rice varieties with fast tillering. The average rice yield reached 2.5 - 2.7 quintals/sao, an increase of 20 kg/sao compared to the same period in 2024.

Most of the harvested rice acreage in Kim Thanh belongs to land accumulation models. Farmers cultivate in concentrated areas and sell fresh rice to traders immediately after harvest at prices ranging from 10,000 to 12,000 VND/kg.

Fresh sticky rice is bagged by farmers and sold right in the field to traders.

In the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop, Kim Thanh district will cultivate 4,034 hectares, of which sticky rice alone accounts for about 500 hectares, an increase of 200 hectares over the same period last year.

Since the beginning of the season, the rice fields have basically grown and developed well, with few pests and diseases. Representatives of the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment said that the rice yield this season could reach 69 - 70 quintals/ha or more.

According to the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, in the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop, Hai Duong strives to cultivate about 53,000 hectares of rice, with a yield of 6.5 tons/ha and an output of 344,500 tons.

As a result, the province has planted 53,367 hectares, exceeding the plan by 0.7%. It is expected that from June 5 to 20, farmers in the province will harvest the winter-spring rice crop.
