This trend is expected to continue booming in the "authentic" Korean entertainment space K-Town, Mega Grand World in East Hanoi (part of the "destination city" Ocean City).
Korean trends that once took Vietnam by storm.
In 1997, the South Korean television series "Medical Brothers" premiered in Vietnam. Following that, a series of hit dramas such as "Glass Shoes," "Stairway to Heaven," and "Winter Sonata" also captured the hearts of millions of Vietnamese viewers.

In the 1990s, images of Korean idols could easily be found everywhere, from trendy eateries and entertainment centers to youth-oriented bookstores and even barbershops and fashion boutiques. Jeju Island suddenly became a dream travel destination for many young couples. From these initial milestones, the Hallyu wave quickly reached new heights in the 2000s and 2010s, becoming a "hot" trend not only in Vietnam but also globally.
According to a recent announcement by the Korea Foundation, a survey conducted in 18 countries worldwide revealed that the number of fans of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) reached 178 million in 2022, an 18-fold increase from the 9.26 million recorded in 2012, when the survey was first conducted. Within Asia alone, China has the largest number of fans with 84.3 million, followed by Thailand with 16.8 million, and Vietnam in third place with 13.3 million fans.
In Vietnam, the influence of the Hallyu wave has spread to a range of lucrative sectors such as entertainment, business, fashion, and food. In fact, throughout Vietnam, it's easy to find famous Korean brands occupying prime locations in many major cities, such as CGV cinemas (owned by CJ Group), Korean-style restaurants like Gogi House and Dokki, Korean cosmetics and beauty brands, Tous les Jours bakeries, and GS25 convenience stores. From this cultural wave, Hallyu now opens up significant business opportunities for many Vietnamese people.
K-Town Mega Grand World Hanoi - Recreating a part of the past, embracing the latest trends.
To avoid keeping those born in the 70s and 80s nostalgic, or those born in the 90s and Gen Z waiting too long, Vingroup has quickly incorporated the cultural essence of South Korea into the K-Town zone at the Mega Grand World Hanoi shopping and entertainment complex. This promises to become a "dream" destination for all Korean culture enthusiasts.
Inspired by South Korea's most famous shopping and entertainment districts, K-Town offers customers the chance to immerse themselves in a miniature Korea with the vibrant atmosphere of Myeongdong Night Market; enjoy authentic delicacies at Hongdae Food and Art Street; experience the diverse cultures of Itaewon International Street; or savor the luxurious and upscale feel of Kangnam Affluent District…

The public architecture in K-Town is imbued with the Korean spirit in every street and shop, giving visitors the feeling of truly stepping into the "land of oppas" with its ancient roofs, iconic bridges, and unique national flower patterns... promising to become a "film set" with countless Instagrammable spots for young people and Hallyu fans.
Located in the prime location of District 2 – the "Dining and Entertainment District" of Ocean City, adjacent to Vincom Mega Mall and just 150m from VinWonders Wave Park, K-Town is an all-in-one entertainment hub with a wide range of amenities. From trendy cafes and supermarkets featuring Korean domestic brands to beauty centers, spas, and cosmetics shops, the "Korean Street" offers visitors exciting experiences 24 hours a day. The district also promises to satisfy the trendy entertainment tastes of modern youth with vibrant cultural festivals and K-pop-infused street music.

K-Town is not simply an ideal destination for tourists, but also offers attractive business opportunities. With enormous potential from its pioneering and trend-setting nature, the commercial townhouses here have high liquidity, are easily transferred or leased to generate sustainable profits from the massive influx of Korean brands into Vietnam.
The K-Town subdivision in particular, and the Mega Grand World Hanoi complex in general, are expected to open to visitors in early December 2023. Once operational, Mega Grand World will contribute to creating a new face for tourism in the capital city, while also opening up highly valuable and attractive business opportunities for investors, anticipating the trend of multi-experience tourism currently popular worldwide.
