Connecting shipping lines - businesses with container cargo through Chan May Port

In recent times, Thua Thien Hue province has always accompanied port operators, promoted, called for, and successfully implemented the bringing of agents and container shipping lines to Chan May Port; creating momentum, helping the industry of the province and the Central region to develop; opening up new opportunities and development space for Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone.

To specify the requirements and wishes of enterprises, in addition to the general incentive mechanisms and policies, Thua Thien Hue province has issued a separate Resolution to encourage and attract container shipping lines and enterprises with import and export activities to do business at Chan May Port.

At the Conference, representatives of enterprises and shipping lines also pointed out some difficulties and problems in operations at Chan May Port such as: currently, some enterprises are used to importing and exporting container goods in Da Nang , so they are still hesitant to change; there is no certain connection and cooperation between enterprises, shipping lines and logistics companies; attracting goods is difficult due to the decline in global and domestic trade... Currently, the amount of container goods and the number of domestic/international ships are still low; the frequency of ships going to/from the port is still low, not meeting the needs of enterprises as well as the wishes and expectations of Thua Thien Hue province and the inherent advantages of Chan May Port;...

The conference recorded quality opinions, responsible sharing, and enthusiasm from businesses. This is an important basis for the Economic Zone Management Board, departments, branches, and Chan May Port to study and refine to issue policies within their authority, implement and create the most favorable conditions for businesses to import and export goods through Chan May Port smoothly.

On this occasion, the Conference witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Regional Container Lines (owning and operating 36 container ships to 170 destinations in 28 countries) from Thailand and Chan May Port Joint Stock Company on the opening of an international container shipping route through the port in early December 2023./.
