Since December 25, the front yard of Boi Com Hoi An restaurant (Dao Duy Tu street, in Hoi An Ancient Town) has become bustling as it is the place where activities of wrapping and cooking banh chung and banh tet are organized.
On this occasion, Boi Com Hoi An restaurant cooked about 1,000 banh chung and banh tet to give to people in difficult circumstances in Hoi An and neighboring areas with the desire to spread love, so that people in difficult circumstances have more joy during the Tet holiday.
Coming to Hoi An right on the days before the traditional Vietnamese New Year, many international tourists visiting Hoi An Ancient Town were quickly attracted by this activity.
When young people explained that this was a traditional activity to prepare for the traditional Vietnamese New Year, many guests excitedly expressed their desire to participate in the experience.
Because it was their first experience, many tourists were confused in the steps such as scooping sticky rice, wrapping leaves, tying strings... It was inevitable that they were clumsy the first time wrapping and cooking banh chung and banh tet, but eventually the tourists were able to complete these meaningful products.
According to Ms. Janialid (31 years old, French nationality), she herself knew that traveling to Vietnam at this time would coincide with the traditional New Year of the people, so she was very excited to have experiences with the colors of Vietnamese New Year and the reality exceeded her expectations.
"Participating in the activity organized by Boi Com Hoi An restaurant was just a coincidence, it brought me indescribable joy and left an unforgettable mark on this trip to Vietnam" - Ms. Janialid shared.
Mr. Luong Quy Nhan - General Manager of Son Hoi An Boutique - Boi Com Hoi An restaurant said that some international tourists stayed up all night to watch the cakes cook, chatted with everyone and personally delivered the cakes to the locals the next morning. Some tourists even shared that they would bring a few cakes back home as souvenirs of the trip.
"We organize this program with the hope that in the future, more businesses will join hands to share with those in difficult circumstances. In addition, such activities will help international visitors have a deeper experience of local culture," said Mr. Nhan.
