"A staff member took great care of us during that time and found solutions to support us. She was the kindest staff on the ship," said a tourist named Cindy. It is known that they were able to move to Phu Cat airport ( Gia Lai ) in time this morning, November 20.
According to Vietnam Railways Corporation ( VNR ), during the historic floods in mid-November, many railway and road routes in the Central region were cut off. The two foreign tourists were on train SE1, but were stuck at Khanh Phuoc station (Gia Lai) due to rising floodwaters.
The two passengers were extremely worried because they were likely not able to reach Ho Chi Minh City in time for their flight back to France. Realizing the urgent situation, flight attendant Dang Thi Thao, from the Hanoi Railway Flight Attendants Group, encouraged and tried to find a way to support the passengers.
After many hours of contact, Ms. Thao was able to connect with an acquaintance, who was also a railway employee near the "stuck" area. Knowing the situation, they used a motorbike to pick up the two passengers, carrying them across the residential road, along safe, unflooded points to reach Phu Cat airport (Gia Lai) on the morning of November 20.
Thanks to Ms. Thao's enthusiastic and timely support, the two passengers arrived at the airport safely and were able to fly to Ho Chi Minh City in time to board their flight back to France.

Ms. Thao said she was very happy to be able to support the two passengers. She believes that not only she but any train attendant or Vietnamese person would do the same when faced with a similar situation.
"Our job is not only to serve passengers on the train but also to accompany and help them when they encounter difficulties," she shared. It is known that Ms. Dang Thi Thao and her husband both work at the Hanoi Railway Attendants Group. They have been attached to cross-Vietnam trains for more than 15 years.
Romain Labat, one of the two tourists, shared that despite the complicated and unpredictable conditions, the railway company still ensured to provide them with adequate food and clean facilities. He was grateful for Ms. Thao's enthusiastic and responsible support.
From November 18, the railway industry was forced to stop operating a series of trains to ensure passenger safety.
VNR allows passengers to return tickets online, without charging fees, in cases where train schedules are affected by natural disasters, special incidents, traffic jams, delays or cancellations.
The electronic ticketing system will automatically refund the ticket amount to the account used for payment. To ensure the online ticket refund process goes smoothly, passengers need to be careful to enter correct and complete information, including: phone number, email address, and booking code.
This information is the basis for the system to automatically compare, verify and make refunds.
