On May 13, the Hue City Forest Protection Department said that the unit had just received a report from the Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan Inter-District Forest Protection Department on inspection work, requiring owners of coffee shops, beverage shops, and ornamental plant trading establishments to sign a commitment to protect wild animals and wild birds.
According to the Hue City Forest Protection Department, through monitoring in the area, it was found that advertising, buying, selling and exchanging wild birds is still quite common. Some individuals raising starlings have the habit of bringing the birds to coffee shops and refreshments. In addition, in some provinces and cities, starling singing competitions are still held, so people still raise and sell starlings without records or papers to participate in the competition.

Faced with this situation, the Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan Inter-District Forest Protection Department and Hue City have actively coordinated with other units to inspect and disseminate legal regulations on the protection of wild animals and birds.
Through propaganda, 48 restaurant, coffee shop and business owners have voluntarily signed a commitment to protect wild birds. At the same time, the rangers require the owners of these establishments not to trade in wild animals, wild birds and migratory birds in violation of the law. In particular, the rangers also require the shop owners to ask customers who bring wild birds to drink coffee to have documents proving their legal origin. If they violate the regulations, they will be handled according to the regulations.
Many owners of pet shops in Hue City signed a commitment to protect wildlife and birds.
Previously, to strengthen the management and protection of wild birds, the Hue City Forest Protection Department directed the Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan Inter-District Forest Protection Department to coordinate with the police of Phuoc Vinh and Truong An wards (Thuan Hoa district) to inspect and handle gathering points and establishments illegally trading wild birds in the area.
After inspecting 5 locations including coffee shops and pet stores, the rangers drew up administrative records for 2 violations, imposed a fine of 2.2 million VND, and seized 25 wild birds of various species. After complying with the fine, the owners of the businesses pledged not to trade, buy, sell, or keep wild birds.
