Opening of the 2025 National Youth Weightlifting Championship

On the morning of June 4, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province coordinated with the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department and the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Youth Weightlifting Championship.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Hoang Quoc Khanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee; Do Dinh Khang, General Secretary of Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation; leaders of provincial departments, agencies, sectors, unions, members of the organizing committee and participating coaches and athletes...

The tournament attracted more than 200 athletes from 30 provinces, cities and sectors across the country.

The 2025 National Youth Weightlifting Championship has gathered the largest number of athletes ever, with more than 200 excellent young athletes aged 15-20 from 30 provinces, cities and sectors across the country participating. The weightlifters compete in 10 men's weight categories: 55 kg, 61 kg, 67 kg, 73 kg, 81 kg, 89 kg, 96 kg, 102 kg, 109 kg, over 109 kg and 10 women's weight categories: 45 kg; 49 kg; 55 kg; 59 kg; 64 kg; 71 kg; 76 kg; 81 kg; 87 kg and over 87 kg. The Organizing Committee will calculate points to rank individual achievements; rank team, rank the entire delegation at the tournament.

The tournament is a useful sports playground, creating opportunities for athletes to exchange, learn, compete, and improve their professional skills. Through the tournament, the Organizing Committee also checks and evaluates the training of athletes in the past time; searches, selects, nurtures and trains promising young athletes, adding them to the youth team and the national team.

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province delivered opening remarks at the tournament.

For the first time, Lao Cai province hosted the National Youth Weightlifting Championship, which is a recognition of the efforts in developing weightlifting, contributing to promoting the physical education and sports movement in general, and spearhead and strong sports in particular; continuing to realize the goals and tasks of the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".

This event is also an opportunity to promote the image, tourism potential and unique culture - sports of the locality to friends from all over the world. After the opening ceremony, the athletes entered the first matches in the men's 55 kg category.
