Medical examination for 500 people in Tan Loc islet

This is a program chaired by the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City, in coordination with the People's Committee of Tan Loc Ward and hospitals.

The program organizes 2 examination points including one at the Ward Health Station for adults and one at Tan Loc Secondary and High School for children.

At the examination session, doctors from Can Tho General Hospital screened and treated nearly 200 adult patients, mostly elderly, suffering from common diseases such as respiratory infections, joint pain, digestive diseases and chronic diseases. Many patients shared their joy when being examined by doctors from the city hospital, given free medicine, and received gifts. The gifts, including necessities, moved people and made them feel cared for.

Nearly 30 doctors and nurses from Can Tho Children's Hospital examined about 300 children. Nearly half of the children who came for examination were screened and had their hearts scanned. For children with signs of heart abnormalities, doctors advised them to return to Can Tho Children's Hospital for a follow-up examination; for children diagnosed with the disease, doctors consulted and provided timely intervention and treatment plans, and at the same time, called for support for children in difficult circumstances.

At the program's opening ceremony, the units presented support funds to the locality from mobilized sources. Of which, the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City donated 15 million VND, Can Tho City Children's Hospital donated 80 million VND, Can Tho City General Hospital supported 60 million VND and PVcomBank donated 10 million VND to Tan Loc Ward People's Committee, contributing to taking care of disadvantaged households in the locality.

Delegates gave gifts to students in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Pham Huynh Anh Duy, Chairman of Tan Loc Ward People's Committee, said that Tan Loc Ward has more than 35,000 people. In recent years, with the attention of authorities at all levels, people's lives have gradually improved. However, the ward still has many households in difficult circumstances, so health care is limited. In particular, the grassroots health care system is not qualified to screen, detect and promptly treat children with congenital heart disease in the community. Therefore, today's program has practical and timely meaning. Each examination and ultrasound is not only a professional procedure but also an opportunity to save small hearts, helping them live healthy lives. At the same time, the medical examination program contributes to raising public awareness about preventing cardiovascular disease in particular and protecting health in general. The working group also presented meaningful gifts to students and families in difficult circumstances. This is not only material support but also a great source of spiritual encouragement, adding confidence and determination for children and households to overcome difficulties, excel in study, work and life.
