Medical examination and gift giving to children and caregivers at SOS Children's Village Dien Bien Phu

NDO - On March 23, the Department of Health of Dien Bien province organized a program to examine, provide medicine and give gifts to children being cared for at two facilities, including: SOS Children's Village Dien Bien Phu and the province's General Social Protection Facility.

Mr. Pham Giang Nam, Director of Dien Bien Department of Health , said: In one day, doctors and medical staff of Dien Bien Health Department examined and checked the overall health of more than 200 people, including children being raised and cared for at two facilities and mothers and caregivers living at SOS Children's Village Dien Bien Phu and the province's General Social Protection Facility.

Leaders of Dien Bien Department of Health visited and encouraged students of SOS Children's Village Dien Bien Phu in the program of medical examination and treatment for children.

For cases detected with diseases of the ear, nose and throat, teeth and jaws, eyes, respiratory, digestive, dermatological, etc., doctors will prescribe, dispense medicine and provide treatment instructions. For cases detected with other diseases, they will be advised to be transferred to medical facilities for specialized treatment.

Along with medical examination and medication, doctors also disseminate information related to daily nutrition and hygiene in eating and living to ensure children's health.

Within the framework of the program, leaders of Dien Bien Department of Health and units under the industry presented many gifts including rice, candy, and school supplies to students at the two facilities.

Previously, according to the decision of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province on the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus, the Dien Bien Department of Health organized to receive the state management task for the SOS Children's Village Dien Bien Phu handed over by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

Upon receiving the case, the leaders of the Department of Health and other units inspected the current status of facilities, equipment, human resources, and the situation of child care, nurturing, andeducation .

Currently, SOS Children's Village Dien Bien Phu has 32 staff members who receive, manage, care for and nurture 168 orphans, homeless children, and children from families with especially difficult circumstances. Of these, 56 children are studying at universities, colleges and vocational schools; 98 children are living in the Village; 14 children are living at the Youth Hostel to study from kindergarten to high school...
