Tan Trao Historical Relic Site - The Resistance Symbol of the Capital
Tan Trao Relic Site is located in 11 communes of Son Duong and Yen Son districts, Tuyen Quang province. Tan Trao Special National Relic Site is a complex of 138 relics and relic clusters, associated with the pre-uprising period and the resistance war against French colonialism. This place used to be the capital of the liberated zone, where President Ho Chi Minh and the Party Central Committee lived, worked and led the August General Uprising in 1945.
Some typical destinations not to be missed include: Hong Thai Communal House - where delegates to the National Congress are welcomed, Na Nua relic complex - where Uncle Ho lived and worked, Tan Trao Communal House - where the General Uprising Order was passed, and Tan Trao banyan tree - where comrade Vo Nguyen Giap read Military Order No. 1, opening the revolution to seize power.
On May 10, 2012, the Prime Minister decided to rank this place as a special National Monument, recognizing the great role of Tan Trao in the history of the nation's struggle for independence.
