Urgently organize a conference to summarize the planning of Hoi An ancient town for the period 2012 - 2025

DNO - On the afternoon of September 25, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi chaired a meeting to listen to a report on the Project to preserve and promote the values ​​of the world cultural heritage of the ancient town of Hoi An.

At the meeting, representatives of the Center's leadership Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation General Report Project on conservation and promotion of the value of the world cultural heritage of Hoi An ancient town to 2030, with a vision to 2035.

The total capital for the project is 2,150 billion VND. Of which, the public investment capital of the Central Government and Da Nang City is 1,770 billion VND; the regular expenditure of the city is 180 billion VND; ODA funding is 200 billion VND.

The project was completed by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (old) over a long period of time, ensuring the order of steps and submitted to the Prime Minister in June 2025, but has not yet been approved. Currently, the agency in charge of the project is the People's Committee of Da Nang city.

Through the opinions and recommendations at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center in advising on completing the project dossier to submit to the competent authority for approval.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to advise the City People's Committee to organize a conference to summarize the Master Plan for Investment in Conservation, Restoration and Promotion of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town in association with the development of Hoi An City and tourism in the period 2012 - 2025 (approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 78 dated January 12, 2012) before October 15, 2025.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advised the City People's Committee to report to the Prime Minister for permission to extend the overall investment planning period for preserving and promoting the value of Hoi An world cultural heritage according to the project's timeframe.

At the same time, advise the City People's Committee to work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to review the inclusion of the project's component tasks in the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025 - 2035 period. Thereby, proactively finding suitable and feasible funding sources to implement the project if approved.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to proactively implement the management, conservation and effective promotion of the value of the world cultural heritage of Hoi An ancient town; advise competent authorities in establishing, appraising and approving projects to preserve, renovate and restore items and works belonging to the heritage of Hoi An ancient town in accordance with the processes, procedures, competence and regulations of law.
