When the essay question is: 'I want to hold your hand'

Write an essay with one of the following two titles: I want to hold your hand, Today's experience and 'Me' of the future.

That is one of the contents of the 2025 literature and writing exam organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training.

On the morning of January 8, 153 students from grades 6 to 9 in Ho Chi Minh City participated in the 2025 Good Writing Contest, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School.

This is a contest with a very special organization and questions, held once a year. Up to now, the Good Writing Contest has been held for the 25th time, but no year is the same.

"We are mentally prepared to receive surprises at the contest" - most of the contestants confided when entering the experience section at the beginning of the contest.

Going to the exam but also… sending love

The first surprise was the performance of duets, choirs, and lithophones by students from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School. Next was the learning process of Vietnamese Braille (Vietnamese Braille for the visually impaired). The contestants were taught by teachers from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School how to read Braille and combine letters into words of will.

The time that followed was probably the most peaceful time for the candidates when they were free to share and exchange with each other about their studies, hobbies, dreams, etc.

At the end of the exchange, the contestants of the Good Writing Contest and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School gave each other "Secret Gift Bags" (prepared by the contest organizers). The students closed their eyes, touched the gifts in the bags to guess what they were; smelled the scent to know what kind of flowers, objects, etc. were in the gift bags...

Perhaps that's why many candidates named the experience activity: giving love.

After the experiential activity, the contestants returned to the school yard and officially entered the competition with a 90-minute test time.

Question 1 (3.0 points)

Question 2 (7.0 points)

From your experiences this morning, write an essay with one of the following two titles:

- Today's experience and the "Me" of the future.

If you could choose a book or a song to give to the students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School, which book or song would you choose? Why would you choose that book or song? (Answer in about 8 - 10 sentences).

Question 2 (7.0 points)

From your experiences this morning and from your own thoughts, write a social argumentative essay with one of the following two titles:

- Light from the heart

- Feel life not only from the eyes.

The candidate's test has a total score of 20 points for the writing test, with 12 points for the writing test and 8 points for the writing test.

The goal of the writing contest

The Good Writing Contest aims to create a learning, exchange and entertainment environment for middle school students who are passionate about literary creation and love the art of writing.

Through the process of writing well and practicing beautiful handwriting, students develop literary skills (communication skills, aesthetic skills, thinking skills), and good qualities (knowing how to appreciate beauty; having a rich spiritual life; having a compassionate and altruistic soul and lifestyle; having perseverance and patience).

In which, the total score of the writing test is 20 points, the writing part is 12 points, the writing part is 8 points.
