U.22 Vietnam is strong from goalkeeper to midfielder
Among them, HAGL’s young players are among the fastest-improving and most mature. There are at least 4 HAGL players who are qualified to play for the Vietnam U.22 team, including goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, and central defenders Dinh Quang Kiet, Nguyen Van Trieu, and Pham Ly Duc. All 4 of these players play in defense.

Among them, 3 faces including Trung Kien, Quang Kiet and Van Trieu have made great strides in the final rounds of the season. Goalkeeper Trung Kien, from being quite confused in the early stages of V-League 2024-2025, has now clearly matured. This player can become a mainstay in the defense of the U.22 Vietnam team in international tournaments.
In particular, Trung Kien (1.91 m), Quang Kiet (1.95 m), Van Trieu (1.88 m) all have a great advantage in terms of physique. If they can combine well with the players who played successfully in the international friendly tournament in China in March, such as Le Van Ha (1.84 m), Nguyen Hieu Minh (1.84 m), full-backs Nguyen Duc Anh (left), Ho Van Cuong (right), U.22 Vietnam currently has a very strong defense. This defense is both fast on the two wings, and strong in one-on-one and aerial duels in the central area.
Along with the remarkable growth of HAGL's young talents, there are midfielders Viktor Le at Ha Tinh Club, Nguyen Van Truong, Ngo Duc Hoang at Hanoi FC, Nguyen Cong Phuong of The Cong Viettel . These players combine with the already famous stars at the age of 22 such as Khuat Van Khang (The Cong Viettel), or Nguyen Thai Son (Thanh Hoa), creating an excellent midfield for the team in the hands of coach Kim Sang-sik.
This midfield is both capable of defending from a distance, with the presence of Nguyen Thai Son and Viktor Le, and is also good at attacking, thanks to the technical quality and penetrating ability of Khuat Van Khang and Nguyen Van Truong. With a strong midfield, the U.22 Vietnam team promises to compete very diversely in upcoming international tournaments.
Find the solution to the goal-scoring stage
Khuat Van Khang alone has scored quite a few goals in recent rounds of the V-League, with 5 goals since the beginning of the season, ranking among the top 5 domestic players with the second-highest number of goals in the 2024-2025 V-League, equal to Hai Long, Van Quyet ( Hanoi FC), Huu Thang (The Cong Viettel), and Ly Cong Hoang Anh (Nam Dinh).

If only counting purely domestic players, Khuat Van Khang is only behind Nguyen Tien Linh's record of 11 goals. This parameter shows that Khuat Van Khang can completely become a new attacking spearhead that coach Kim Sang-sik is capable of exploiting from the midfield, similar to the way Mr. Kim is exploiting Quang Hai, Ngoc Quang, Hai Long in the national team in a similar role.
If there is an area that coach Kim Sang-sik is concerned about, it is probably the strikers. Bui Vi Hao is suffering from a long-term injury, and Nguyen Dinh Bac is not sure how he will perform after his return. Meanwhile, Nguyen Quoc Viet is playing in a lower league and is at a disadvantage in terms of physique. This is a problem that coach Kim Sang-sik will find a solution to before entering the U.23 Southeast Asian tournament in July, and further ahead, the 33rd SEA Games in December.
While V-League is being 'scrutinized' for the honesty of the matches, the young stars still play hard. That's what coach Kim needs, what U.22 Vietnam needs!
