As one of the early established dance clubs, over the past 12 years, Hoa Ban Dance Club, To Hieu Ward has become an indispensable part of the spiritual life of nearly 30 members. Every evening at 8pm, the club members enthusiastically practice each movement, dance, and dance to melodious music. Although many people are over 70, even nearly 80 years old, the passion for this art form that is both entertaining and helps improve health is still burning.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa, Head of Hoa Ban Dance Club, shared: The characteristic of the Club is that most of the members are of retirement age, have a lot of time to devote to their passion, and have been with the Club for many years. Not only that, the Club members have many couples who participate in activities together, support each other in the process of practicing, improving health and finding common joy. These are factors that help the Club operate sustainably and effectively.

From the corners of parks, cultural houses to professional clubs, Rumba, Tango, Chachacha or collective folk dances have become familiar, attracting a large number of people to participate. Each dance step, each melody not only helps to improve health, prevent old age diseases, but also creates a space for healthy cultural exchange, connecting the community.

In recent years, with the strong development of dance clubs, folk dance is increasingly considered an attractive art sport, suitable for many ages. Especially for middle-aged and elderly people, gentle dances and folk dances combined with cheerful music become the "secret" to maintaining health, optimism, connecting with friends and nurturing an active, positive lifestyle - contributing to improving the quality of spiritual life.

At the same time, it helps relieve stress, improve health, and work more effectively.

Folk dances are compiled from simple to complex, combined with cheerful music, helping practitioners easily immerse themselves in the vibrant, exciting atmosphere. Not only for the elderly, dancing and folk dance attract a large number of young people, students and pupils. This is a healthy entertainment channel, helping young people relieve stress after stressful hours of studying and working.

Ms. Quàng Thị Mạnh, Mường La Culture and Arts Club, said: The club currently has more than 60 members from 5 to 70 years old. We are divided into groups by age, practicing many types of dance such as dance, folk dance, ethnic dance, modern dance..., helping members to practice according to their interests, develop their abilities. The club regularly participates in exchanges, helping members have the opportunity to learn and practice confidence on stage.

To create a healthy playground, encourage the development of folk dance and dancing movements in the community, over the past 2 years, the Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center has organized a folk dance and dancing festival at the provincial level. In particular, the second festival in 2025 attracted 30 clubs from 9 communes and wards, with nearly 500 contestants participating. With careful preparation, the clubs brought to the festival unique and impressive performances, inspired by national culture, praising the homeland and country, arousing national pride and community solidarity.

Ms. Lo Thi Bich Thuy, Director of the Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center, said: After two times of organization, the quality of the performances has clearly improved, demonstrating the investment, creativity and love of art of the people.

The dance and folk dance movement in Son La is truly becoming a positive cultural and sporting “phenomenon”, contributing to building a rich spiritual life and connecting the community. These dances are not only “dances of health”, but also dances of joy, of optimism, love of life and of a civilized and dynamic lifestyle today.
