The US attacked a ship in the Caribbean Sea, killing six people, according to RT on October 24. The attack marked the latest US military operation across the Caribbean and Pacific , in what President Donald Trump described as a campaign to "eradicate drug trafficking from Venezuela and Colombia." However, Venezuela and Colombia denied the accusation.
"The US Department of War carried out a powerful attack on a Tren de Aragua (TdA) vessel in neutral waters on the night of October 23," Secretary Pete Hegseth wrote on X network, adding that TdA is a transnational criminal organization from Venezuela.

Minister Hegseth also pledged to continue to hunt down and eliminate more alleged smugglers.
Just a day earlier, President Trump hailed what he called a major success in the US military's efforts against alleged Venezuelan "drug boats," claiming that the flow of drugs entering by sea had dropped dramatically.
The White House boss added that "land will be next", but did not provide further details about when and where US attacks might take place.
Meanwhile, both Caracas and Bogota have accused the US operations in the region of being the start of an effort to seize resources, rather than an effort to combat smuggling.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro told RT last month that the US needs oil and gas, stressing Washington's interest in the Latin American country's vast energy and mineral reserves.
