On the morning of May 19, the Hanoi People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for Tu Lien Bridge across the Red River. This is a special bridge connecting Dong Anh District and Tay Ho District with a design of 2 twisted cable-stayed pylons.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai and leaders of ministries and Hanoi attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of Vin Group and Mr. Nghiem Gioi Hoa, Founder of Pacific Group - representing the contractor - attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Hanoi will start many projects in 2025

Hanoi Chairman Tran Sy Thanh said Tu Lien Bridge is the first bridge over the Red River to start construction in 2025.

According to Mr. Thanh, Hanoi is continuing to direct investors to complete documents and start construction on a series of 6 major bridge projects, to also start construction this year, such as Hong Ha Bridge, Me So Bridge (Ring Road 4); Thuong Cat Bridge, Ngoc Hoi Bridge (Ring Road 3.5); Tran Hung Dao Bridge and Van Phuc Bridge.

Speaking and launching the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed the groundbreaking of Tu Lien Bridge project as a particularly important transport project, contributing to connecting districts and inner-city areas of Hanoi, Hanoi and provinces and cities.

For contractors constructing the Tu Lien bridge project, the Prime Minister requested that they not only meet the schedule, but also exceed it.

"This bridge must be constructed within 24 months. The project's construction area is not large, just over 5km, so we need to work overtime and apply all the most modern things in the construction industry to this project to shorten the time" - he requested.

In addition to speeding up progress, the Prime Minister requested that the construction of the Tu Lien bridge project must ensure quality, not exceed budget, and ensure technical and aesthetic standards.

"The bridge is a product of tourism, a symbolic work of the capital. Therefore, in terms of aesthetics, whatever adjustments can be made must be made during the construction process. It must have its own unique style, more beautiful than Nhat Tan Bridge" - he said.

Tu Lien Bridge and the road from Tu Lien Bridge to Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway have a total length of about 11.5km, from Nghi Tam intersection to Ring Road 3 intersection (Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway).

The starting point is at the intersection with Nghi Tam Street, Tay Ho District, the ending point is at the intersection with TC13 axis, Dong Anh District. The total length of the route is about 3km.

The bridge has a main span across the Red River, connecting the west bank of the Red River along Au Co - Nghi Tam route in Yen Phu and Tu Lien wards, Tay Ho district with the east bank of the Red River in Dong Anh district.

The total preliminary investment of the project is more than 20,000 billion VND. The project will be implemented in the period of 2025 - 2027.

The route from the intersection with TC13 axis to Truong Sa street is implemented according to the project profile, the location of the route connecting Tu Lien bridge to the new National Highway 3, scale 1/500, has been approved by the City People's Committee in Decision No. 6381 dated December 11, 2024.

Hanoi said the Tu Lien bridge project is a special project, the road at the bridgehead is the main urban road. The cross-section of the road is divided into 2 sections, specifically:

Tu Lien Bridge has a cross-section of 43 - 44m including 6 motor vehicle lanes and mixed lanes, merging lanes, sidewalks...

The road south of the bridge has a cross-section of 48m, including an approach bridge in the middle, a parallel urban service road and sidewalks on both sides of the road.

The road north of the bridge has a cross-section of 60m, has been determined in the project documents, the location of the road connecting Tu Lien bridge to the new National Highway 3, scale 1/500 approved by the City People's Committee in Decision No. 6381 dated December 11, 2024.
