The 220kV Than Uyen - Lao Cai transmission line project is invested by EVNNPT, managed by NPMB and will be taken over by Power Transmission Company 1 after completion.
The project scale includes the construction of a new 220kV double-circuit line from the 220kV Than Uyen Transformer Station ( Lai Chau province) to the 500kV Lao Cai Transformer Station, with a total length of 73.5 km.
Of which, the section passing through Lai Chau province is 5.8 km long (12 pole locations) located in Muong Than commune; the section passing through Lao Cai province is 67.7 km long (including 144 pole locations) passing through 9 communes: Nam Xe, Minh Luong, Duong Quy, Van Ban, Nam Chay, Vo Lao, Tang Loong, Bao Thang and Xuan Quang.
Once completed, the project will be of great significance in enhancing the power transmission capacity, meeting the demand for releasing the capacity of hydropower plants in Lai Chau and Lao Cai regions to the national power system, contributing to ensuring stable and continuous power supply for the region.
Along with that, the project contributes to reducing power loss, improving the efficiency of electricity production and business of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), and at the same time actively contributing to local and regional socio -economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony, EVNNPT General Director Pham Le Phu emphasized: "This is a key project, not only contributing to ensuring regional energy security but also promoting local economic development through releasing hydropower capacity. This will significantly add capacity to the national power system and increase budget revenue for localities."
EVNNPT General Director Pham Le Phu requested relevant units to strictly implement technical regulations and construction procedures during the construction process, ensuring labor safety, environmental sanitation and construction quality. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen coordination and mobilize maximum resources to speed up progress and complete the energization in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction.

EVNNPT General Director expressed his deep gratitude to the authorities and people in 10 communes in Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces for accompanying and supporting the site clearance work, creating favorable conditions for the project implementation process.
Affirming that people's consensus is an important foundation for the project's success, at the same time hoping to continue receiving support and cooperation from all levels of government and people in the next construction phase.
As the investor, EVNNPT commits to implementing the project on schedule, with quality and absolute safety, closely coordinating with the locality in compensation and site clearance, ensuring legitimate rights for the people.
At the same time, fully mobilize resources, human resources, and synchronous coordination between the Project Management Board and contractors to put the project into operation as soon as possible.
At the ceremony, the contractor's representative pledged to focus resources on construction progress and quality, and hoped to continue receiving support and close coordination from the authorities and people in the areas the project passes through, especially in site clearance, to ensure stable electricity supply progress for the area.
