Construction of the new Phong Chau bridge to begin in December

The new Phong Chau bridge project ( Phu Tho ) is expected to start construction on December 22.

Regarding the implementation status of the new Phong Chau bridge project - National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province, a representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board (investor) said that, in accordance with the provisions of law for projects implemented under emergency orders, up to now, the work of selecting consulting contractors and construction units has been completed.

"The selected construction drawing design consultant is the Transport Design Consulting Corporation; the supervision consultant is Thang Long Construction Quality Supervision Consulting Joint Stock Company; the construction contractor is Truong Son Construction Corporation.

The project is expected to start construction on December 22, 2024. Currently, the consultant has basically completed the survey work, carried out construction drawing design, ensuring the conditions for construction commencement," informed the investor representative.

Also according to the representative of Thang Long Project Management Board, to serve the construction of the new bridge, the contractor will move the remaining steel girder span of the old bridge to one side, proceed to dismantle to make room for drilling to construct the lower structure of the new bridge. The demolition of the remaining pillars will be carried out in parallel.

According to the approved plan, the new Phong Chau bridge project - National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province is invested in according to the emergency construction order with a total length of nearly 653m.

Of which, the main bridge is more than 383m long (to the abutment).

The road section at both ends of the bridge connecting to the existing road on Lam Thao side is about 113m; on Tam Nong side is nearly 156m.

Starting point at Km 0+00 (about Km 21+50.0 of National Highway 32C avoiding Viet Tri City), in Phung Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District, Phu Tho Province.

End point at Km 0+652.88 (about Km 18+551.4 National Highway 32C), in Van Xuan commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province.

The bridge is permanently built with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete with a bridge width of 20.5m suitable for the width of the roadbed.

The total investment of the project is more than 635 billion VND, using the central budget reserve in 2024. Of which, about 100 billion VND is expected to be allocated in 2024; and about 535 billion VND in 2025.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
