- It is known that the Women's Union of Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province is one of the units that successfully deployed and implemented the "Project to support women in starting a business" . Could you tell us how this Project has been implemented in the locality recently ?
To effectively implement the "Project to support women in starting a business in the period of 2017-2025", every year, based on the direction plan of the Thai Binh Provincial Women's Union and the actual situation, the Standing Committee of the Hung Ha District Women's Union has developed a direction plan for grassroots associations. At the same time, documents are issued to carry out propaganda work, raising women's awareness of starting a business. Thereby, arousing the entrepreneurial spirit, potential, and creativity of women...
In the past time, we have organized 14 training courses for 3,500 district Women's Union officials, key union officials of communes, towns and women's union members. Launched and mobilized projects and ideas to participate in women's start-up competitions organized by the Central and the province; received 35 ideas and projects for start-ups and businesses.
At the 2023 Women's Entrepreneurship Competition with the theme " Women's Entrepreneurship, Promoting Local Resources ", Hung Ha district had 4 entries at the provincial level. There were 2 entries that made it to the regional round. Of which, the project of Hoa Sen Van Dai Cooperative, Chi Hoa commune won the consolation prize in the regional final round.
Women in Hung Ha district are taught bamboo and rattan weaving to establish their own businesses in the locality.
The Women's Union of Hung Ha district has also supported the establishment of 4 cooperatives, such as: Van Quan incense production and trading cooperative, Duyen Hai commune; Conical hat production cooperative, Chi Lang commune; Hoa Sen cooperative and Van Dai medicinal cooperative, Chi Hoa commune. In addition, 5 cooperatives managed by women were also established, including: Trumpet bronze cooperative, Van Cam commune; Tamarind rice paper production cooperative, Tan Hoa commune; Clean vegetable production cooperative, Dan Chu commune; Color vegetable cooperative, Diep Nong commune; Kenh village tofu cooperative, Tay Do commune.
In addition, the District Association has also established 2 models of clubs for female owners of good production and business establishments. 48 newly established women's enterprises have received advice and support in developing their enterprises. Along with that, the Association has coordinated and supported 55 vocational training courses for 1,845 female workers; introduced jobs to 17,165 women of working age; and guided 60 enterprises and production establishments in using online public services.
Women's Unions at all levels have actively promoted and mobilized cadres, members, and women with startup needs and ideas to proactively develop and propose 15 creative startup ideas and business plans to participate in the 2018 Women's Innovation Day; the 3rd Proof of Concept (PoC) competition, with the theme "Women and the future of the green economy " in 2019; the theme "Women's creative startups - Connecting for success" in 2020; the theme "Women's startups elevate OCOP product brands" in 2021, organized by the Vietnam Women's Union.
Currently, Hung Ha district has 4 products that meet provincial OCOP standards, including: Exported face towels of Thai Phuong commune's female enterprises; Peanut candy, sausage candy of Tan Tien commune; detox tea of Hung Dung commune. 6 products that have achieved 3 stars are: Sweet potato cocoons, Minh Thanh crispy fried corn, Hoa Binh commune; Minh Chau towels of Thai Phuong commune; Hung Nhan sedge mats; Boneless tilapia of Duyen Hai commune; and fermented wine of Diep Nong commune.
Organize association activities and trade promotion
- According to you, what content does the Women's Union of Hung Ha district focus on the most in the process of successfully implementing the "Project to support women in starting a business" in the locality?
To support businesses, cooperatives, cooperative groups and business households to operate effectively, we believe that organizing activities to link, develop networks and promote trade is essential.
Therefore, the Women's Union at all levels of Hung Ha district has coordinated to train and improve the management capacity of the Management Board of cooperatives and cooperative groups; provide consultation and vocational training for members of cooperatives, cooperative groups and unemployed women. Promote women to participate in "Women's Entrepreneurship Day", display and introduce products annually, and participate in trade promotion activities.
The Association also actively supports business start-up projects and startups to access preferential capital sources for investment and production expansion. This helps women introduce business models and services of their association groups, cooperatives, and cooperatives to the market, contributing significantly to solving output and building brands for agricultural products and goods.
- With the recent remarkable and encouraging successes, did the Women's Union of Hung Ha district encounter any difficulties in implementing the "Project to support women in starting a business", madam?
In addition to the achieved results, in the process of implementing Project 939, we still encountered some limitations and difficulties such as: Some Party committees, authorities and some agencies and units have not really paid attention to and supported the implementation of the Project. There are also Association bases that have not proactively advised, proposed and organized the Project's activities.
Mobilizing social resources from units and businesses in the area is not much. The content of support for women starting a business is still general, lacking information on supporting legal documents and support policies.
In addition, some Associations have no experience in supporting women to start businesses, and have had difficulty in guiding and supporting local women to start businesses. There are rural women who have ideas to start businesses, but lack knowledge and experience, and are not bold enough to participate in training courses, trade promotion events, and propose support needs for start-ups.
Enabling women's startup ideas to access funding
- According to her, to overcome difficulties, develop and expand the collective economic model, start-up in the locality for women , the plan in the coming time of the District Women's Union is: What is Hung Ha ?
To effectively implement the Project to support women in starting a business, period 2017-2025, in the coming time, the Women's Union at all levels of Hung Ha district will proactively develop plans and propose the District People's Committee to pay attention to creating favorable conditions to support funding and resources to continue implementing the Project.
We also established and launched more Cooperatives managed by women. Coordinated with relevant agencies and localities to continue connecting, calling for, and mobilizing organizations, businesses, and resource investors to support women in starting businesses through economic development models. Create conditions for women's start-up ideas to access funding from the provincial support fund and preferential loans.
The Association will also support the promotion and branding, search for stable markets and organize production activities according to the value chain, for qualified models to increase the added value of women's start-up products. Focus on discovering, nurturing, building and praising, and propagating models, typical collectives and individuals with good and effective practices in practice; encourage the replication of collective economic models established by women that operate effectively in localities.
For the grassroots Women's Union level, we will proactively develop plans and propose that local authorities pay attention to creating favorable conditions to support funding and resources to implement the Project at the unit. Guide the branches to organize a review and grasp the list and needs of women with ideas to start a business or start a business to register and organize support activities suitable to the needs of each group of people who want to start a business or start a business.
In particular, we will regularly monitor the implementation of legal policies related to supporting start-ups and business development in the area. From there, we will promptly advise local authorities and authorities to remove difficulties and problems in starting, starting and developing businesses, helping local women feel secure and confident in starting a business.
