Starting a business in high school and the journey of creating value of a Gen Z female student

Hanh Nguyen was awarded the Head of School Awards at the recent graduation ceremony.

Every day, traveling nearly two hours from Bien Hoa to school , Hanh Nguyen chose that journey as part of "growing up". Recalling her first day of school, she said: "On the first day at ISHCMC-AA, I was like a blank sheet of paper, eager but also full of anxiety. The learning environment was completely new, the learning method was proactive, open and required me to express myself and explore more. I was not used to asking questions, expressing opinions or leading an activity, so at first I was a bit overwhelmed."

Initially, Hanh Nguyen chose to observe more than act, but the gentle support from teachers created changes. In the small class at ISHCMC-AA, careful observation and listening from teachers, as well as timely encouragement, helped her gradually open up and dare to try new things. Nguyen tried her hand at painting , joined the band, the volleyball team, and did not hesitate to try many roles in community activities. Each experience opened up a new part of her.

At ISHCMC-AA, Hanh Nguyen always has teachers accompanying her to encourage and provide the best guidance.

"I used to feel a bit lost because I liked too many things, but didn't know what my true passion was," Nguyen shared. "But it was the flexible environment at ISHCMC-AA that made me realize: there's no need to force myself to choose a single path. I can be myself, colorful ."

With guidance and empowerment from the school, Hanh Nguyen gradually became a proactive and oriented person. She participated in and initiated many meaningful activities - from organizing Global Be Well Day to spread the message of healthy living to the whole school, to leading a fundraising campaign for students in the Tra Bong highlands, especially building her first business model right where she lives - San Ga Coffee & Dining in Bien Hoa.

All activities stem from my passion for the F&B industry, along with the desire to create real value in everything I do. "What makes me happiest is not achieving high revenue, but seeing my cafe become a familiar place, where Bien Hoa people can easily enjoy the delicious dishes, special drinks and quality services that I have experienced. At the same time, this is also a destination for people to gather, connect, share, and inspire each other to live positively," Nguyen confided.

Through these experiences, along with the inspiration from her parents' work stories, Hanh Nguyen realized that business is an effective way to create value, solve social problems and connect people. That is also the reason why she decided to pursue Entrepreneurship and Business in university - a direction that is completely consistent with the "initiative" mindset that she has nurtured from an early age.

With that orientation, careful preparation and determination, Hanh Nguyen has conquered the top universities in the US. The girl who was once unfamiliar with the international environment is now ready to make her own mark on the global journey in the university lecture hall. Besides her knowledge, Hanh Nguyen also carries a clear vision and goal of being a creator, doing meaningful things and making others remember her through her contributions, instead of just becoming a successful entrepreneur in the usual sense.

Every past experience - an incomplete presentation, a strenuous community service, or a cup of coffee served to a customer for the first time - are all small bricks that build Hanh Nguyen's maturity. For her, the journey ahead may not be predetermined, but self-belief, a spirit of continuous learning, and a heart devoted to the community will be a solid compass.
