New students get acquainted with online public services
A notable new point is that the admission process is divided into two phases: online and in-person.
Before completing the direct admission procedure, new students declare their information online on the school system. The school reviews and contacts students directly if there is any inconsistent information to make adjustments, ensuring accuracy, especially regarding the place of residence - a factor related to the student's military service confirmation certificate. Thanks to that, the time for the official admission procedure is shortened, and the student card and confirmation can be received immediately.
This is also the way of the University of Technical Education and the University of Economics - Danang University. All schools make the most of information technology, new students enroll and pay tuition online, reducing the admission process and creating a comfortable mindset for new students. On the day of enrollment, new students only come to school to learn about the school and the new learning environment.
Candidates registering for admission and completing admission procedures online is considered a "stepping stone" to help them adapt to the credit-based training method at universities, when students are given autonomy from building their own timetables, self-studying; updating class announcements, class activities on the school's website, doing exercises and tests via the E-Learning system...
The University of Technical Education - Danang University reminds students to read official information in documents issued by the school and on the school's website.

Dr. Huynh Phuong Nam, Vice Principal of Danang University of Technology, said that with direct admission, the school divided into 4 batches in 4 days according to the major groups. Students only need to submit original documents for post-inspection, while other procedures are completed online. This process helps to significantly shorten the time, limit waiting and reduce the hardship for both students and parents.
Lai Hoang Khuong, a new student of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, Advanced Program, shared: "Coming from Lao Cai to school, I was both happy and confused, a little nervous and worried. The school is quite large. During the admission process, I was guided specifically and enthusiastically by the volunteers, so it was quick and less confusing." At first, Khuong will stay at an acquaintance's house and then find a roommate or register at the school's dormitory.
Along with improving procedures, Danang University of Technology has implemented many policies to support new students. Notably, there are large scholarships for the top students of the whole school, top students of the majors and candidates who won national prizes, with the amounts of 70 million, 60 million and 50 million VND. In total, more than 40 scholarships were awarded.

In addition, the Social Policy Bank has implemented a loan program for STEM students. Mr. Huynh Phuong Nam said that the school will support students to complete loan procedures early, creating conditions for them to study with peace of mind, especially students with difficult circumstances.
Support learning and adapting to new environments
Dr. Huynh Phuong Nam shared that the biggest challenge for a segment of students today is meeting foreign language output standards, causing many students to be behind schedule in graduating. To overcome this, the school continuously opens refresher courses and organizes periodic foreign language exams.
In the opening activities for new students, the University of Technical Education - Danang University dedicated a session to coordinate with the English center to guide the English roadmap for the entrance exam and foreign language learning to meet the output standards according to the training regulations.
Currently, the student learning support model at the University of Science and Technology - Danang University is implemented in accordance with the university environment. Specifically, each class has a homeroom teacher who directly accompanies the students, and at the same time, there is a group of students who support the lecturer in guiding and answering questions for the majority.

According to Dr. Huynh Phuong Nam, the most important thing for new students is to clearly define their learning goals and be aware of the fundamental differences between high school and university. The university environment requires students to be more independent, and the teaching methods and approaches of teachers are also different. This is a necessary transition for students to gradually adapt to the working environment later. Therefore, instead of maintaining the passive learning method as in high school, students are encouraged to be proactive, practice self-study skills, self-research and be ready for the natural selection pressure of the university environment.
Assessing the quality of the 2025 university entrance exam, the Vice President of the University of Science and Technology, Danang University said: "The benchmark scores of STEM majors this year tend to increase, showing the growing interest of society in the field of engineering and technology. This is a clear result from the positive impact of major policies of the State, especially Resolution 57 on promoting the development of science and technology, making parents and students more interested in STEM majors and recently Resolution 71".
In this year's enrollment period, the University of Science and Technology - Danang University has confirmed the enrollment of 3,890 students, basically meeting the set target. The University of Technical Education also has 1,830 students enrolled compared to the 1,800 target for 24 training majors/specializations, including the newly opened major of Mechanical Engineering Technology (major in Design and Numerical Simulation in Mechanical Engineering).
In addition, with the first batch of students graduating from the 2018 General Education Program, it is clear to see changes in the approach and teaching methods at the high school level. Students are trained more in initiative, presentation skills, lesson preparation and soft skills development. This is an important foundation for them to adapt faster when entering university, and be less "shocked" by the difference in teaching methods, which requires a high level of autonomy.
"The school expects this class of students to make good use of the skills they have acquired since high school, thereby more effectively accessing the unique training environment of a technical university" - Dr. Huynh Phuong Nam, Vice Principal of the University of Science and Technology - University of Danang.
