On January 2, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department announced that it had discovered that the Diamond Club, affiliated with the Vietnamese Star Hotel Company Limited (Ramana Hotel, 323 Le Van Sy, Ward 13, District 3), invested by Pham Trinh Phong (born in 1976, residing in Ward 12, Tan Binh District), had taken advantage of being licensed to operate electronic games with prizes for foreigners to organize illegal gambling for Vietnamese people.
Through inspection at the above address, the authorities discovered that Diamond Club was organizing Baccarat gambling for Vietnamese gamblers, seizing 146,297 USD and 419,818,000 VND along with many other related evidences.
According to the Investigation Police Agency, Pham Trinh Phong directed Pham Thi Thanh Hang, Deputy General Director (born in 1980, residing in Ward 2, Tan Binh District) and other managers, shift leaders, receptionists, etc. of the club to search for and lure Vietnamese gamblers to gamble at the Diamond Club (Ramana Hotel) with especially large amounts of money.
Notably, in just one day (December 17, 2024), a gambler participated in gambling with a total amount of up to 725,445 USD (equivalent to more than 18 billion VND).
The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department said it had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and issued arrest warrants to detain 12 subjects (the masterminds and leaders are Pham Trinh Phong, Pham Thi Thanh Hang, the club's managers, shift leaders, receptionists, accountants, and gamblers) for the crimes of "Organizing gambling" and "Gambling".
During the investigation and expansion of the case, 7 suspects were detained to continue clarifying the acts of gambling and organizing gambling.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency continues to investigate, pursue, and clarify the entire process of managing, organizing gambling, and other illegal acts at the Diamond Club (Ramana Hotel) to strictly and thoroughly handle related subjects.
