On May 19, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) sent an official dispatch to health departments and hospitals nationwide regarding strengthening the examination, detection and treatment of Covid-19 cases.

The Ministry of Health requires hospitals to review and update plans for admitting and treating Covid-19 patients.

The Ministry of Health stated that currently, the world has recorded an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in a number of countries, such as Brazil, the UK, Thailand, etc. Notably, from the beginning of 2025 until now, Thailand has recorded more than 71,000 Covid-19 cases and 19 deaths, mainly due to the Omicron XEC variant.

This variant spreads 84% ​​- 110% faster than previous Omicron variants and is present in at least 27 countries.

Meanwhile, in our country, the number of Covid-19 cases has also increased slightly in the past 3 weeks, with an average of about 20 cases per week, with no severe cases.

Faced with the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Health requested local health departments and hospitals to review and update plans for admission and treatment of Covid-19 patients in accordance with the epidemic developments, avoiding passivity and surprise; fully prepare facilities, equipment, medical supplies and isolation areas to be ready for admission, treatment and infection control.

Along with that, strengthen infection prevention measures in medical facilities, especially in departments treating seriously ill patients, the elderly, and those with underlying diseases...

The Ministry of Health also called on localities to enhance their proactive spirit and closely coordinate in epidemic prevention and control work to be ready to respond to all situations.
