Unable to beat PPA Asia, Quang Duong collides with Phuc Huynh in Mumbai

Vietnamese pickleball prodigy Quang Duong may meet new PPA Asia - Vietnam Open 2025 champion Phuc Huynh at the Global Pickleball League (GPL) taking place in Mumbai, India.

Coincidentally, Quang Duong and Phuc Huynh are both named in the teams participating in the Global Pickleball League professional competition, which will take place from December 16th to 23rd in Mumbai.

Quang Duong played for the Mumbai Chhatrapati Warriors team for a bid of 27 lakhs (over 800 million VND), the highest among the 100 international pickleball players selected on September 7th.

The Vietnamese pickleball "prodigy" is the center of attention at this tournament. Quang Duong is currently making waves in India with two championship titles at the recent Monsoon 2.0 tournament, demonstrating his invincibility.

Meanwhile, Phuc Huynh will play for the Bengaluru Blazers. The PPA Asia - Vietnam Open 2025 champion, along with Quang Duong, are the two Vietnamese players invited to participate in GPL 2025.

Quang Duong currently has a DUPR score of 6,865 in singles (pickleball level) (6,602 in doubles), while Phuc Huynh has a DUPR score of 6,282 in singles (5,816 in doubles) on the system.

The two previously met at the Australian Open in February 2025, where Quang Duong won 2-0 (11-5, 11-4) to claim the bronze medal in the professional singles category of the PPA Tour Australia.

The GPL 2025 tournament features 10 teams with 10 members each. These include 5 professional players and 5 semi-professional players, known as "challengers". The teams compete against each other over 8 consecutive days.

Athletes will compete for a total prize pool of up to $500,000 (approximately 13 billion VND).

This tournament will certainly attract attention from Vietnamese pickleball fans. This is because both of Vietnam's top pickleball players are participating and have the potential to face each other to determine who is superior.

Phuc Huynh has just won the PPA Asia - Vietnam Open 2025, after defeating Ly Hoang Nam 2-0. Meanwhile, Quang Duong was unable to participate in PPA Asia due to a contract dispute with the tournament organizer.

Quang Duong's absence from PPA Asia, held in Vietnam, has left many fans at home disappointed. He was once ranked 4th in the PPA Ranking in the US, but is now a free agent.

Quang Duong is currently in Vietnam participating in several promotional activities for his personal pickleball business. He is expected to travel to China soon to further promote his personal brand.
