Accordingly, to implement the message "Tourism industry joins hands to reduce plastic waste", Vietnam Tourism Association calls on units and businesses to join hands to build green, sustainable tourism, promote cultural values, respect resources, and protect the ecological environment.

The Association recommends that units participating in the VITM Hanoi 2024 Fair do not use plastic water bottles and plastic bags in the Fair; encourage partners and customers to limit the use of disposable plastic products when participating in the Fair; actively take actions to maintain hygiene and protect the environment, towards implementing VITM without plastic waste.

The Fair Organizing Committee will provide each booth with a large bottle of drinking water (20 liters) and 20 free paper cups for use each day. In addition to calling on the tourism business community to participate in reducing plastic waste from tourism activities, the Vietnam Tourism Association also calls on people and tourists participating in the Fair to actively respond and not use disposable plastic items.

Previously, at the press conference introducing VITM 2024, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh said that the tourism industry is moving towards green and sustainable development. Minimizing the impact of plastic waste is very necessary, not only helping to preserve and protect the natural and ecological environment but also creating an attractive and sustainable tourism environment.

For many years, the Vietnamese tourism industry has been calling on localities and tourism businesses to balance promoting tourism development with protecting the environment and landscape. At the VITM Hanoi 2024 Fair, there will be seminars discussing this topic.
