According to NSMO, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on proactively preventing, avoiding and responding to storm Kalmaegi, the Company's Civil Defense Command held an urgent meeting chaired by the NSMO leadership, with the participation of representatives of specialized departments and the Northern Power System Dispatch Center (NSO), the Central Power System Dispatch Center (CSO) and the Southern Power System Dispatch Center (SSO). The meeting focused on comprehensively reviewing the operation and dispatch plan and the multi-level coordination mechanism between units in the entire power industry.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm No. 13 is forecast to be strong and have a wide range of influence, especially in the South Central region. This development could threaten the safety of many important 500kV and 220kV transmission lines and major load centers, requiring flexible, proactive and accurate operations.
Therefore, the NSMO leadership requested the entire system to activate appropriate operating scenarios, mobilize forces and means to ensure safe and continuous operation, and minimize damage caused by storms.
Key solutions deployed include: comprehensive assessment of operational scenarios in case of power line failures or power interruptions; scheduling power mobilization taking into account regional reserves, reducing transmission flows through areas heavily affected by storms; close coordination with hydropower plants in the region to ensure both project safety and reasonable regulation for downstream areas.
NSMO also strengthened the 24/7 operation duty regime at all dispatch levels, assigned leaders and operating engineers to be on duty; comprehensively checked the SCADA system, communications and self-consumption electricity to maintain smooth connection in all situations.
One of the emphasized contents is the post-storm recovery work. NSMO has requested regional control centers to closely coordinate with transmission and electricity companies, review key lines and important loads in advance to serve natural disaster prevention, and at the same time develop a plan to prioritize power restoration according to the level of impact and importance of each area.
