Bulle is an artistic work of the French Theatre Company Les Lions sous la Lune (The Lions under the Moonlight), performed at Dancenter Vietnam (53 Nguyen Dang Giai Street, An Khanh Ward, HCMC), on the evenings of November 1, 2 and November 8, 9.
Bulle is an experimental, poetic and philosophical play from France that has been given new life in Ho Chi Minh City thanks to its combination with traditional Vietnamese music .
On stage, there was only one artist and one female musician, a bucket of water and the sound of a zither. From the silence, movements and words gradually appeared, sometimes as light as a breath, sometimes as strong as waves. The artist talked to himself, to the music, to the audience, and pursued a journey: “breaking the invisible bubble” of himself.
Through many metaphors, sometimes the forest, sometimes the desert, the work makes viewers reflect on human nature, fear and desire...
Léo Barcet chose the zither to incorporate into the play because, for him, the zither is a musical instrument that is both gentle and powerful, like the Vietnamese soul. This combination not only brings a new tone to the work, but also an effort to create a dialogue between two cultures, searching for a common language between music and words.
When bringing Bulle to Ho Chi Minh City, Léo Barcet collaborated with female artist Nguyen Ngoc Hang. Ngoc Hang graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City Dance School and the Military University of Culture and Arts, and is the founder and director of the Ngoc Viet Art Troupe in Ho Chi Minh City since 2011. She is a well-rounded artist, a dancer, choreographer and musician, known as an excellent zither player, skillfully combining tradition and contemporary creativity, bringing a sophisticated artistic language that is both deeply Vietnamese and rich in international experimentation.
