Dr. Gaurav Gupta - Chairman of GTTCI hopes India and Kien Giang will cooperate in tourism development.

On March 31, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province authorized the Kien Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center (KITRA) to preside over and work with relevant departments and branches to receive and work with the delegation of the Global Trade and Technology Council of India (GTTCI).

Speaking at the meeting, KITRA Director Quang Xuan Lua said that Kien Giang has many advantages to develop the marine economy ; focusing on developing the marine economy in association with sustainable tourism development. Modern and convenient transport infrastructure connects with provinces, cities and many countries including roads, waterways, aviation, etc. In particular, Phu Quoc is currently a destination with a visa exemption policy for foreign visitors to enter and stay for 30 days.

To date, Kien Giang province has 54 FDI projects from 19 countries and territories around the world, with a total registered capital of more than 2.7 billion USD in the fields of tourism, agriculture, processing industry, manufacturing, trade, services, oil and gas transportation, etc.

Export turnover reaches 1 billion USD by 2024; of which, the Indian market reaches 500,000 USD, mainly leather shoes; imports reach 218 tons, worth 635,000 USD, mainly frozen squid products...

At the meeting, KITRA requested GTTCI to pay attention to creating favorable conditions to promote import and export, especially in rice, processed seafood, leather shoes...

Currently, Kien Giang and India have good cooperation in tourism development. Therefore, the parties need to promote the organization of programs for businesses of Kien Giang province and India to meet, exchange, promote cooperation in investment, trade, tourism; promote cooperation, exchange in aquaculture development and exploitation, seafood processing; actively promote to open flights from India to Phu Quoc city.

At the meeting, Kien Giang called on India to cooperate and invest in the fields of urban construction, clean agricultural production, high-tech agriculture; clean energy, renewable energy; industrial zones and clusters; wastewater and waste treatment; logistics services, etc.

Dr. Gaurav Gupta - Chairman of GTTCI emphasized that India has cooperated with Kien Giang in many areas of trade and especially wants to connect and develop tourism. Indian visitors to Kien Giang increased 10 times compared to 5 years ago. "We hope that through this meeting and working session, we will strengthen the connection and soon reopen the India - Phu Quoc route to develop tourism between the two countries," said Mr. Gaurav Gupta.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain good relations, promote the expansion of bilateral trade and investment cooperation; focus on key areas such as tourism, trade, infrastructure and technology... to bring benefits to both sides.
