Digital economy - a driving force for Vietnam's growth.

The research project "The Impact of the Digital Economy on Economic Productivity in the New Context" by Professor To Trung Thanh of the National Economics University seeks to answer the big question: How will the digital economy help Vietnam achieve breakthroughs in the next decade?

Today, the digital economy is a "new operating ecosystem" of the economy, permeating everything from manufacturing, trade, finance, and healthcare to public administration. Digital infrastructure, big data, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce platforms are all contributing to restructuring how the economy operates on a daily basis.

Beyond infrastructure and technology, digitalization is transforming the way Vietnamese businesses produce and operate. Production lines controlled by real-time data reduce errors and save costs; online trading platforms expand markets without increasing physical space; and digital management tools enable even small businesses to access advanced management methods.

This trend is confirmed by a series of empirical studies: the more businesses invest in technology and digitalization, the higher their productivity and the stronger their competitiveness.

However, the journey towards an effective digital economy in Vietnam also faces a number of difficulties and challenges. The digital divide between regions, the shortage of high-quality human resources, the high cost of technology investment for small and medium-sized enterprises, and delays in some legal frameworks are issues that need to be addressed to ensure that the digitalization process is uniform and effective.

In Vietnam, with its young population, rapid adoption of technology, and rapidly shifting economic foundation, there is ample potential for breakthroughs if opportunities are seized effectively. The most important thing right now is synchronization: from national strategy to individual businesses, from data policies to the skills of each worker.
