At about 9:20 a.m. the same day, Ship 276 of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command received a distress signal from fishing boat KG-91423TS captained by fisherman Tran Thanh Long (from An Giang ). On board was fisherman Le Van Tri (residing in My Phu Dong commune, An Giang province) who was bitten on the hand by a sea snake and is in critical condition.
Immediately after receiving the information, Ship 276 quickly arrived at the scene to check and deploy a boat to take the medical team to the emergency room. Upon examination, the patient was conscious but mildly agitated, with high blood pressure, rapid pulse, and pain and swelling in the bitten arm.
The medical team bandaged the wound, administered IV fluids, injected painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and blood pressure medications, temporarily stabilizing the patient’s condition. However, doctors recommended that the patient be brought ashore soon for further intensive treatment.
