Mr. Nguyen Quang Hieu, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said: “We spend an average of 3-5 years to negotiate market opening for a product. For products with technical requirements, the time required is longer, for example, durian, to be able to grow impressively like today, the time to negotiate market opening takes a lot of time. Since 2016, 2017, we have built a technical profile and gone through many steps and many negotiation stages to get the results like today”.
Our country's passion fruit has been exported to 20 countries around the world in the form of fresh fruit, frozen fruit and juice. With an area of over 12,000 hectares of passion fruit, an output of 200,000 tons/year, concentrated in the Northern mountainous region and the Central Highlands, Vietnam is one of the countries that grow the most passion fruit in the world.
The soil has helped passion fruit grown in Vietnam have world-class quality and are loved when exported to demanding culinary markets such as Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, etc.
Previously, Vietnamese passion fruit was officially exported to the Australian market, along with mango, longan, lychee and dragon fruit.
In mid-2022, Vietnamese passion fruit was also officially exported to the Chinese market, opening up great opportunities for production expansion.
The representative of the Plant Protection Department also said that in recent years, our country has continuously promoted measures to improve quality, produce according to the chain, ensure the traceability of passion fruit, focusing on yellow passion fruit and purple passion fruit varieties. In addition, purchasing and processing enterprises have also actively participated in the closed value chain, to ensure the traceability of passion fruit, ensuring export criteria.

On the contrary, the export of fruits and vegetables to the markets of the United States, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia increased.

Thus, in the 11 months of 2024, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry will strive to exploit many potential markets such as the United States, South Korea, Japan, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, etc.
Currently, the world market has high demand, so 80% of our country's fresh and processed passion fruit output has been exported. Accordingly, Vietnam is among the top countries producing and exporting passion fruit in the world, just behind Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
