35 writers from all over the country are participating in a literary writing camp on the theme 'For national security and peaceful life' in Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh from now until May 25.
This is the third writing camp on this topic organized by the People's Public Security Publishing House (People's Public Security Communications Department), opening on the evening of May 15.
The writing camp is an activity within the framework of the 5th novel, story and memoir writing contest on the theme "For national security and peaceful life" (2022-2025 period), jointly organized by the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Writers Association.
Opportunity for writers to open case files
Writers participating in the writing camp are those who are writing about the People's Public Security force and have registered to participate in the contest and are invited to participate in the writing camp.
Among them are writers familiar to readers such as Y Ban, Suong Nguyet Minh, Pham Thanh Khuong, Nguyen Dinh Tu, Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Dao Trung Hieu, Le Thi Bich Hong...
Colonel Tran Cao Kieu - Deputy Director of the People's Public Security Communications Department, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the People's Public Security Publishing House - said that this writing camp is one of the important activities of the contest, aiming to create conditions for writers to penetrate reality and directly approach the working and combat environment of the police force.
Through activities such as visiting units, meeting soldiers, accessing case files, etc., writers can collect vivid and authentic materials, thereby inspiring their writing.
Writer Tong Ngoc Han, who has been accompanying the contest for more than 10 years since 2014, shared that these writing camps are very important to writers, because normally it is not easy for writers to access case files or have in-depth contact with the work of police officers.

Honoring the beauty of police officers is not to gain their gratitude.
Writer Bui Nhu Lan, who participated in two writing camps on the topic "For National Security and Peaceful Life", affirmed that the deeper one goes into mining the ore, the more "messy" it becomes, and the more things one wants to write about.
Living in Quang Ninh , near the home of Bui Dinh Khanh, a drug dealer who just shot and killed a police officer, Ms. Lan emotionally said that the sacrifice of police officers in peacetime is great and very worthy of respect.
Writer Nguyen Binh Phuong - Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association - also agrees with this.
He said the function of a writer is to strengthen trust and determination in society by spreading good values in life, by affirming the truth.
The writer writes to glorify the beauty of police officers not so that they will receive gratitude from the people or be "gilded".
The important thing is to make the community understand the sacrifices of police officers, so that the community can live better, obey the law, encourage each other to be kinder, and make life more and more decent.
That is the greatest purpose of the literary composition contest "For national security and peaceful life".
The leaders of the Writers' Association hope that writers will use their enthusiasm and conscience to create works of the highest quality, contributing to the beauty of police officers and the value of contemporary Vietnamese literature in general.
