Get rich from ornamental peach trees - Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station

- In recent years, the peach growing model in the province has developed strongly. Many enterprises, cooperatives, and households have become rich from this model. A typical example is Toan Phat Cooperative, Quang Thai village, Vu Le commune, Bac Son district.

Toan Phat Cooperative members take care of peach garden

Mr. Tran Van Thuyet, Director of Toan Phat Cooperative, said: Since the 2000s, the peach growing model has begun to appear in Vu Le commune. After a period of development, realizing that most households grow on a small scale, do not focus on applying science and technology to production, so they have not met the market demand well, and the economic efficiency is not high, the commune government has mobilized and encouraged peach growing households to join together to establish cooperatives. Accordingly, in 2019, Toan Phat Cooperative was established, with 12 members, mainly operating in planting and caring for ornamental peach trees and peach embryos.

After the Cooperative was established, it organized tours to learn about growing and caring for peach trees at Nhat Tan peach garden, Hanoi . At the same time, the Cooperative also promoted and created conditions for members to participate in training courses on peach tree care techniques organized by the commune and district; organized activities for members to exchange, share and learn experiences on techniques for caring for, pruning, shaping and shaping trees...

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, a member of the cooperative, said: My family started growing peach trees in 2015 with 100 ornamental peach trees. In 2019, when joining the cooperative, through activities to support members in improving their knowledge and production skills of the cooperative, I have mastered the care process, pruning techniques, shaping, and shaping trees... to apply to my family's model. Accordingly, my family has expanded the scale to about 1,000 ornamental peach trees and planted an additional 10,000 embryo peach trees. During the Lunar New Year 2025 alone, my family sold about 1,000 ornamental peach trees and 500 embryo peach trees to the market, bringing in an income of over 500 million VND after deducting expenses.

Not only does the Cooperative support members in improving their ability to apply techniques to production, it also focuses on building product brands. Accordingly, in 2024, the Cooperative registered to develop ornamental peach trees into OCOP products. At the end of 2024, the Cooperative's ornamental peach products were evaluated and classified as 3-star OCOP products.

With systematic investment in development from applying technology to production to building a brand, the cooperative has grown stronger and stronger. Up to now, the cooperative has about 8 hectares of ornamental peach trees and peach embryos. During the Lunar New Year of At Ty in 2025, the cooperative sold about 3,000 ornamental peach trees and more than 3,000 peach embryos to the market, bringing in revenue of over 3 billion VND.

From the model of growing ornamental peach trees and peach embryos, the cooperative members have an average income of 100 - 200 million VND/year, some households have an income of 500 - 800 million VND/year. In addition, the cooperative also creates seasonal jobs for about 60 local workers with an income of 300,000 VND/person/day.

Mr. Pham Ba Hanh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Son district, said: Thanks to promoting local advantages and focusing on applying science and technology in production, Toan Phat Cooperative has increasingly developed, becoming one of the typical cooperatives of the district. In addition to economic development, the Cooperative also actively participates in exhibition activities and competitions on beautiful peach trees organized by the district and the province. In the coming time, to continue supporting the Cooperative to improve knowledge and skills in peach care, the Department will coordinate with the commune government and related units to organize training courses, transfer science and technology to peach growers; propagate and mobilize members of the Cooperative to invest and apply modern technology in production to save costs, improve production efficiency as well as product quality and value.

It can be seen that, thanks to exploiting local strengths and boldly changing production thinking from small-scale to joint ventures, supporting each other to develop together, Toan Phat Cooperative has created its own brand, improving production efficiency and income for members.
