In order to promote a positive and creative spirit in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, in recent years, the Military Medical Academy (MMA) has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command to maintain the tradition of reporting achievements to Uncle Ho. This activity aimsto educate cadres, lecturers, students, staff and soldiers to improve their understanding of Uncle Ho's life, career, ideology, morality and style, creating strong motivation in studying, training and working.

With its position and role as the leading medical center of the Army and the whole country, the Military Medical Academy performs well three key tasks: Training high-quality human resources for the Army and the health sector; researching and developing medical science and technology; improving the quality and effectiveness of medical treatment and examination. The Academy is an environment to preserve, develop and spread the ideological values, ethics and style of Ho Chi Minh, through teaching, learning, scientific research, and health care for soldiers and people. From here, agencies, faculties, teachers and units have identified meaningful models of activities.

Applying the learning and following of Uncle Ho's teachings, the Faculty of Marxist-Leninist Theory has chosen to build the model of "One initiative, two creativity" to innovate and improve the quality of training and scientific research. "One initiative" means being proactive in learning, researching, regularly updating new knowledge, new sources of documents, and active teaching methods. "Two creativity" means that lecturers are creative in teaching and scientific research; students are creative in their learning methods...

Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh, Head of the Department of Marxist-Leninist Theory, said: “To implement the model, the Party Committee and the Department's leadership determined the targets and contents of studying and following Uncle Ho. Cadres and Party members voluntarily registered to strive to compete, taking the achieved results as the evaluation criteria.” Through the implementation of the model, in the 2021-2024 period, the Department has successfully completed the teaching plan for more than 14,500 students with nearly 150 class leaders.

Every year, the Party Committee of the Academy and Party committees and organizations at all levels in the Academy develop plans to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. During the implementation process, agencies and units have built models and movements, and applied a variety of educational methods suitable for each target group. The internal radio program maintains the column "Every day studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings", "Example of good people, good deeds". Mass organizations organize the Movement "Good workers, creative workers", "Model youth accommodation", "Student and student houses", youth forums, exchanges, summer volunteering, humanitarian blood donation, free medical examination and medicine for policy beneficiaries, etc.

Colonel Doan Van Mau, Political Commissar of the Military Academy, affirmed: "Through meaningful activities, we have created unity in awareness and responsibility, enhanced political determination and self-awareness of cadres, party members and the masses in performing their tasks, contributing to spreading the values of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, and promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period throughout the Academy."

Set a good example

President Ho Chi Minh once advised: “To guide the people, we must set an example for others to follow.” According to him, setting an example is not only a principle of ethical practice but also an effective and persuasive leadership method. In that spirit, in the 10 years of implementing Directive 05, the staff and lecturers of the Military Medical Academy have been deeply aware of their responsibility to set an example, thereby fostering political qualities, professional ethics, and improving the effectiveness of training, research and treatment tasks.

Teaching is the central political task of the Academy, therefore, the responsibility to set an example is reflected in political awareness, pedagogical style, and behavioral standards. According to Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh, lecturers not only impart knowledge but also participate in educating and nurturing the qualities and personality of future military doctors. Therefore, each lecturer is always deeply aware that a thorough lecture, an exemplary attitude, and fairness in evaluating students are all vivid manifestations of the spirit of learning and following Uncle Ho. Currently, the teaching staff of the Academy of Military Medicine has more than 500 comrades, of which over 93% have postgraduate qualifications. Clinical lecturers are responsible for three tasks: teaching, treatment, and scientific research, truly exemplary models for students to learn and follow.

In scientific research activities, Uncle Ho also taught that one must have the following qualities: Seriousness, integrity, creativity, and science closely linked to practice. "With that requirement, cadres and lecturers have set an example in closely following the requirements of the Army's tasks, the military medical sector has researched and been creative in research, applied advanced science and technology, and persistently overcome difficulties to improve the quality of training, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases" - Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Binh Duong, Director of the Center for Research, Application and Production of Medicine said. In fact, the spirit of setting an example and diligently researching of scientists has brought about many outstanding achievements, and the research products of the Academy have been applied to life.

Over the years, the Academy has had more than 70 national-level topics and projects, more than 200 ministerial-level topics and thousands of Academy-level topics. In particular, the Academy has two clusters of scientific works that were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize: the cluster of organ transplant projects (2005) and the cluster of research projects on the model of combining military and civilian medicine to serve the health care of soldiers and people in the renovation period (2012).

The responsibility of setting an example for each soldier is even more evident in the work of treating and caring for patients. Learning from Uncle Ho here is the spirit of serving the people, loving the sick as if they were their own flesh and blood. In recent times, many cadres and lecturers have devoted themselves to taking care of the health of soldiers and people, volunteering to go to the front line to fight the epidemic, overcome the consequences of natural disasters and catastrophes, ensure healthcare for Nam Yet Island (in Truong Sa archipelago), go to remote areas to examine, treat patients, and provide free medicine... On average, every year, the Academy's treatment facilities examine and treat 800,000 people, admitting and treating nearly 85,000 patients. Regardless of the circumstances, the soldiers in white shirts are dedicated to saving patients, further shining the medical ethics of military doctors.

Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nghiem Duc Thuan, Political Commissar of the Military Medical Academy, said: “In the military pedagogical environment, where teaching literacy, vocational training and human education are combined, the responsibility of setting an example for each cadre, lecturer and student is a vivid demonstration of studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings. Each good deed, each shining example has contributed to building the position and prestige of the Academy, worthy of being the leading medical center of the Army and the whole country, an environment to spread the values of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and style, promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new situation".
