Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 opens from May 31, stage is 60% larger, technology 'covers the sky'

Taking place from May 31 to July 12, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2025) is being urgently prepared. In addition to 'huge' technology, this year's fireworks viewing stage will be 60% larger than in 2024.

According to the organizing committee of the 2025 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, in recent days, preparations for the opening ceremony of Da Nang's most attractive tourism event of the year have been urgently carried out by units.

Many international travel companies and large accommodation areas in Da Nang have booked a large number of tourists to Da Nang during the fireworks festival.

DIFF 2025 stage is the largest ever

DIFF 2025 is the longest and largest fireworks festival in history. The festival has 6 nights of performance.

The DIFF 2025 stage is located on Tran Hung Dao Street, along the east bank of the Han River. This year, the stage has a total area of ​​1,605.8m², 60% larger than in 2024.

Not only is the stage larger and has more seats, it is also invested in integrating advanced performance technology.

The mechanical system serving the stage has 5 large-sized lifting domes, of which the central dome is 21m wide, nearly double last year.

Two 18.5m wide wings and two additional arches on the riverbank increase flexibility and formability. The combination of large stage area and mechanical engineering creates a dynamic, multi-level performance space.

The organizers also invested in new generation LED floor technology to help the audience enhance their visual experience, optimizing viewing angles from all positions. The surround sound has been upgraded to suit both the fireworks display and the live concert.

The biggest highlight of this year's fireworks season is that for the first time, the organizers have integrated an augmented reality (AR) experience for the audience.

Accordingly, each paper ticket is not only an entrance ticket but also a "connection portal" to AR. With 6 tickets corresponding to 6 shows, the audience will be led through journeys of experiencing augmented reality technology, no night is the same.

When scanning the fireworks ticket through the phone camera, the audience will see a vivid 3D space, including moving blocks to the music, the voice leading through each destination. The audience will enjoy a "second layer of fireworks", traveling around Da Nang in a few minutes.

AR (Augmented Reality) or augmented reality technology is a technology that allows virtual content to be layered onto the real world , through intermediary devices such as smartphones, tablets or specialized glasses.

Instead of taking users "out of reality" like VR (virtual reality), AR enhances reality with a layer of vivid digital data that can be interacted with in real time.

In recent years, AR has exploded globally, not only limited to the gaming or fashion industries, but also appearing in tourism, education, event organization and performing arts.

From shows at Coachella (USA), augmented reality fireworks in Sydney, to virtual reality exhibitions in Europe, AR is gradually becoming the new standard of experience for modern audiences.

The highlight of AR lies in its ability to create an immersive feeling without the need for bulky equipment, each person sees a different journey, connecting emotions with users through images, sounds, narration, and synchronized movements.

In particular, viewers only need a smartphone to experience AR.

The DIFF 2025 International Fireworks Festival is organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee with the support of Sun Group Corporation. The opening night will take place at 8:10 p.m. on May 31, broadcast live on VTV1 channel.

DIFF 2025 has the theme "Da Nang - New Era" with 10 teams including Vietnam, Finland, England, Portugal, Poland, Korea, Italy, Canada and China.

Vietnam Team 1 will perform on the opening night with the reigning DIFF 2024 champion Finland.
