Spring Festival and 100th Anniversary of An Hoa Communal House

In the 132-year history of Da Lat's formation and development, An Hoa communal house has existed in the heart of the city for 100 years. Located right in the center of Da Lat city, An Hoa communal house was built in 1925, marking the time when Vietnamese people started to come here to live and work as construction workers for the French on roads, bridges, and villas.

They lived in dormitories and on construction sites. With the support of a national capitalist contractor, the poor people established Dinh An Hoa, with its back against the slope of 3/2 Street and its door facing down the pine-forested hillside on Phan Dinh Phung Street.

Over a century, through many ups and downs of time, generation after generation, people have assigned people to take care of the incense worship, this place has become a spiritual support, connecting the community; a place to educate the next generations to be grateful to the ancestors who reclaimed wasteland, founded villages, and opened up streets.

Every year, the people of the neighborhood regularly organize the Spring and Autumn Festivals, which have become a beautiful feature of community culture.

Amidst the bustling sound of drums and gongs, the sound of funeral orations, prayers and thanksgiving for the merits of our ancestors who reclaimed land, built villages and established streets to create the bustling streets we have today; forever remembering the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence, freedom, and national liberation for a lasting country; praying for favorable weather, heaven and earth to protect people, for people to live and work in peace, for good business; praying for national peace and prosperity, for a peaceful homeland, and for every family to be well-off.

This year's Spring Festival is the 100th, also on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, making the atmosphere more solemn and important, and the communal house space more sacred.

People offer incense to pray to their ancestors to protect and bless their homeland and country with peace.

This is also an opportunity for people in the town and ward to express their respect for their ancestors, meet each other, strengthen neighborhood ties, and strive to build a civilized and modern Da Lat.
