The men's football event of SEA Games 33 has 11 participating teams, divided into 3 groups, in which groups A and B each have 3 teams, group C has 4 teams. As a result, U22 Vietnam is in group B with U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos.

Meanwhile, defending champion U22 Indonesia is in Group C with Myanmar, Philippines, and Singapore. As host, runner-up U22 Thailand is in an extremely "easy" group with Timor Leste and Cambodia.

At this congress, men's football continues to apply the U22 team regulations (players born from January 1, 2003 onwards) and there are no spots for over-age players.
The teams will compete in a round robin, the three group winners and the second-placed team with the best record will advance to the semi-finals.
The Vietnam U22 team under the leadership of coach Kim Sang-sik will play its opening match against Laos U22 at 6:30 p.m. on December 4, then face Malaysia U22 at 6:30 p.m. on December 11.

Group B matches will be played at Tinsulanon Stadium (Songkhla). The three group winners and the best runner-up will advance to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals will be held on December 15, while the bronze medal match and final will take place on December 18, both at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok).
U22 Vietnam is about to gather again and will participate in the Panda Cup 2025 international friendly tournament in China to complete preparations for the 33rd SEA Games.
