In the second round of the Korea Masters, Nguyen Hai Dang faced off against home player Jeon Hyeok Jin. On the world rankings, the gap between the two players is quite large.
Specifically, Hyoek Jin ranked 35th, while Hai Dang was 20 places lower. The Korean player was also the 4th seed of the Korea Masters. Therefore, before the match, Hai Dang was predicted to face many difficulties.
However, the match score still surprised many people. Right from the first set, Hyoek Jin showed his superiority by scoring a series of 8 points to lead 8-0. He quickly won this set 21-16.
In the second set, Hai Dang played with great determination. He had a completely different performance from before when he continuously chased the opponent. He even came back and led 18-14. Although he was a bit "weak" in the last few minutes, Hai Dang excellently overcame the difficulties to win 25-23.
But perhaps because he had spent too much energy in the second set, the Vietnamese player was almost out of energy in the deciding set. Throughout the entire third set, he only scored exactly… 2 points. Jeon Hyoek Jin easily scored a series of points, winning with a rare score of 21-2 to get the overall victory.
This can be considered a heavy defeat for Hai Dang, especially when he is in the preparation phase for the 33rd SEA Games taking place in December.
Also on the afternoon of November 6, another Vietnamese tennis player, Nguyen Thuy Linh, defeated Hung Yi-Ting 21-18, 21-9 to win a ticket to round 3.
