Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation must report on the loss of contact of its president.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports has sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation requesting a report on the loss of contact between president Liu Xiu Bao and the US for many months after he left Vietnam.

On the afternoon of September 4, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMAAF) regarding the provision of information related to HMAAF President Luu Tu Bao.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao is currently the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMMAF) for the first term (2022 - 2027) and the Executive Director of Saigon Sports Club (SSC) - one of the leading martial arts clubs in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, Mr. Luu Tu Bao is also the President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) for the second term (2023 - 2028).

An official dispatch from the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City said that there was information that Mr. Luu Tu Bao - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation, had lost contact many months after going to the US.

Therefore, in order to ensure accurate information about the personnel who is the president of the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation and to continuously maintain the effective operation of the Federation, the Department requests that HMAAF report before September 5, 2025 to synthesize and report to the Department of Home Affairs and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Meanwhile, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) also responded quickly by holding an urgent meeting at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon (September 4).

This meeting is to have an official announcement and find an immediate solution to the issue of President Liu Xiubao being out of contact for many months after he left Vietnam for the US to attend the funeral of a relative at the end of March 2025.

Previously, speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , a sports industry leader said: "According to the feedback from localities and the Vietnam Boxing Federation, they have lost connection with Mr. Bao for 4-5 months now.

Therefore, the Department of Sports and Physical Training is doing two things: asking the Vietnamese authorities ( Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to verify information related to Mr. Luu Tu Bao; directing the Vietnam Boxing Federation to hold a meeting, deploy work and assign a temporary person in charge so as not to affect the common work during Mr. Bao's absence."

It is known that Mr. Luu Tu Bao has dual Vietnamese and American citizenship. Mr. Bao was also confirmed by the authorities to be eligible to run for election and was elected as the President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation for the second term (2023 - 2028).

Mr. Bao's near "disappearance" from the boxing world and from running the national federation is causing a stir and confusion among the public.
