
This year's festival attracted 1,989 works by 200 authors from 25 provinces and cities. The jury independently evaluated and selected 121 works for exhibition.
As a result, the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association awarded 11 outstanding works in the freestyle category, including 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals and 5 Encouragement Prizes. In the black and white photography category, the Lam Tan Tai Award was given to 6 works, including 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes and 3 Third Prizes.


Speaking at the ceremony, Artist Doan Hoai Trung, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, said that this year's Festival has special significance as it aims to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. "The 50th Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Art Photography Festival in 2025 was a great success. The competition continues to encourage creative works with new perspectives and rich in humanity - the core spirit of art photography", Artist Doan Hoai Trung commented.

The festival has a free theme for color and black and white photos in many genres such as portraits, landscapes, daily life, still life, nature, ideas, etc. The works not only reflect the beauty of the landscape but also highlight the depth of social life through authentic moments.

“The organizing committee has socialized the theme of freedom - black and white photography under the name Lam Tan Tai Award - named after the late artist, founder and first Secretary General of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association. This is the fourth year that the Lam Tan Tai Award with the theme of freedom - black and white photography has been included in the Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Art Photography Festival. The award contributes to rekindling the passion for black and white photography, which has a distinctive artistic character but is gradually becoming rare in contemporary photography”, shared artist Doan Hoai Trung.


The festival is open to professional and amateur photographers nationwide. Prize-winning works or works selected for exhibition by authors who are not members will be considered for admission to the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association according to regulations. The competition is professionally sponsored by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
The representative of the organizing committee said that the Festival continues to be an important annual event for the photography community, introducing to the public works that vividly reflect the achievements of the economy - society - culture - national security and defense, along with the image of a dynamic Vietnam in the renovation period. To serve the work of archiving and widely introducing, the organizing committee has published a yearbook including all the works displayed and awarded at the Festival.
