Previously, the family discovered the victim unconscious next to a water pump, suspected of being electrocuted due to using the pump to pump water from the garden.

From the above two cases, the Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center warns that the rainy season brings with it many potential accident risks, the most worrying of which are electrical accidents, flooding and fallen trees. People need to be more vigilant and proactive in preventing accidents to protect themselves and their families.

Many dangers lurk during the rainy season, a series of tragic accidents occur related to the living environment affected by rainwater, high humidity, thunderstorms and strong winds.

The most common risks include electric shock due to leakage of electricity from unsafe appliances, exposed electrical wires, wet outdoor outlets; flooding causing electrical equipment to short-circuit, leading to the risk of fire or electric shock.

In addition, trees are uprooted or broken due to strong winds, posing a danger to passersby or breaking power lines; traffic accidents occur due to slippery roads, poor visibility or manhole covers popping up during heavy rain.

Lightning strikes in open areas are especially dangerous for people holding metal objects, using phones outdoors or standing under trees.

To minimize the risk of accidents during the rainy season, people should absolutely not use electrical equipment when their hands are wet, on wet floors or in flooded areas. As soon as there is an electrical leak or water entering the socket or electrical equipment, the circuit breaker (CB) or circuit breaker must be turned off.

Everyone needs to proactively check and maintain the electrical system periodically, especially outdoor equipment such as pumps, fans, and garden lights.

People should limit going out during heavy rain, avoid going into flooded roads or places where construction is underway; avoid taking shelter under trees, near electric poles, or places with sagging or broken electric wires.

When an accident occurs, people immediately call 115 for support.
