The 9X wife suddenly discovered that her ovaries were "like menopause"
Born in the poor countryside of Binh Thuan , NTK (27 years old, Cham ethnic group) grew up like any other girl, with normal periodic health check-ups. K never thought that one day she would have to run around everywhere to... become a mother.
K. told the doctor that she and her husband had been trying to have a baby since 2021. But several years passed without any signs. In September 2024, the test results left her devastated, with her ovarian reserve at only 0.4%, the same as that of a person approaching menopause. During the treatment, that number dropped to 0.2%.
Since knowing her condition, K. has rented a room and stayed in Ho Chi Minh City, working as a maid while undergoing infertility treatment. No one in her husband's family, not even her biological father, knew about K.'s illness. Only her biological mother was the one who quietly borrowed money from the bank so that her daughter could keep the hope of having a child.
Meanwhile, K.'s husband works as a construction worker with an unstable salary. The tens of millions of dong he has saved and borrowed is nothing compared to the cost of IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment.

“ I knocked on many doors. But when I saw that my ovarian index was only 0.2%, all the doctors shook their heads, while the cost of IVF was too high… I was afraid of failure, afraid of losing my last chance to become a mother,” K. said with red eyes.
One egg, one chance and “ miracle ”
By chance, the landlady whom K. affectionately calls “grandma” found out about the story. Through her friend, K. was connected with Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Suong - who has over 30 years of experience in infertility treatment - currently working at a Reproductive Support Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
After examination, Dr. Suong said that K.'s case was very rare, when a young person had very low ovarian reserve. After a strict egg stimulation process, there was only 1 egg. In this situation, performing IVF was too risky.
“If you fail, you lose everything, both money and opportunities,” Dr. Suong shared.
After consideration, the doctor decided to apply intrauterine insemination (IUI) - a method that is less expensive than IVF and more suitable for the patient's actual situation. Although there was only one egg and the chance of success was extremely low, both Dr. Suong and the patient bet on this opportunity.
After performing the sperm injection and continuing as directed, K. returned for a check-up but the pregnancy test only showed one line. She was silent as if she had begun to accept defeat.
Only Dr. Suong still held out a ray of hope. Reviewing the ultrasound image, she noticed that the uterine lining was still thick, so she ordered a blood test immediately.

And the miracle came when the test results showed that K. was pregnant. The joy and excitement came not only to K. but also to the entire medical team. No one thought that a woman with 0.2% ovarian reserve and economic difficulties could receive such special joy.
“I hope my story gives people faith that as long as there is hope, they should go all the way. Because miracles sometimes come from fate and a heart that never gives up,” K. confided.
According to Dr. Suong, the number of young women with reduced ovarian reserve is increasing, with unknown causes. This requires more attention from the community, the health sector and young people themselves, in prevention and early screening of reproductive health.
Continuous emergency treatment for 2 cases of genital torsion
On May 27, Le Van Viet Hospital (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) announced that it had received and successfully treated two cases of genital torsion. These are dangerous surgical emergencies with a high risk of necrosis and serious effects on fertility if not treated promptly.
The first case was a 24-year-old female patient, unmarried, admitted to the hospital with severe right iliac fossa pain, accompanied by nausea.
Through examination and ultrasound, the doctor discovered that the patient had right adnexal torsion. The patient underwent emergency laparoscopic surgery to untwist the cyst, preserve the entire fallopian tube and right ovary. After surgery, the patient recovered stably.

The second case was a 50-year-old male patient who was admitted to the hospital with acute left scrotal pain and was diagnosed with left testicular torsion. The surgical team performed surgery to untwist the testicle and spermatic cord, sutured and restored testicular tissue, and successfully preserved the reproductive organs.
Specialist Doctor Pham Son Lam, Head of the Urology Department, Le Van Viet Hospital, said the two cases above are a warning about the dangerous level of genital torsion. Early diagnosis and timely intervention are vital factors to avoid permanent damage and maintain reproductive function.
