A series of events to honor and celebrate journalists will take place in Quang Binh.

(PLVN) - Towards the 135th anniversary of the birth of the great President Ho Chi Minh, the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, to express gratitude and honor generations of journalists, many events will take place in Quang Binh.

On the afternoon of May 8, in Dong Hoi City, the exhibitions on the topics "Vietnamese Revolutionary Press - A Century of Battle" and "Pride of Quang Binh Press" took place.

Leaders of Quang Binh province attended the Spring Press Festival organized by the Provincial Journalists Association on the occasion of Tet At Ty 2025.

100 years ago, on June 21, 1925, leader Nguyen Ai Quoc founded Thanh Nien newspaper, opening the way for the Vietnamese revolutionary press. Born in the fire of the national liberation struggles, growing up with the ups and downs of the country, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has had a glorious and proud century of fighting.

The history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism is divided into 4 stages according to the historical process: Vietnamese revolutionary journalism from 1925-1945: Fighting against feudal colonialism;

Vietnamese revolutionary press from 1945-1954: "Nine years to build a Dien Bien / The red wreath becomes a golden history". This was also the period when Vietnamese revolutionary press had new developments, creating great impressions;

Vietnamese revolutionary press from 1954-1975: Great rear-Great frontline;

Vietnamese revolutionary press from 1975-2025: New opportunities.

Delegates listened to a presentation on the 100-year history of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press.

Although Quang Binh revolutionary press was born later than other localities, it had a strong and vibrant development such as "Con duong sang", considered the first revolutionary newspaper of Quang Binh. Born in prison, secretly published by the Dong Hoi prison cell in late 1930, early 1931. Later, many other revolutionary newspapers were born in turn, suitable for each historical period of formation and development of Quang Binh province.

According to the plan, the activities will take place from now until the end of June 2025 with many meaningful activities. The highlight of the series of activities is the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, scheduled to be held on June 21.

The exhibition displays historical stages of Quang Binh Revolutionary Press.

The celebration includes a special art program, speeches reviewing the tradition of revolutionary journalism, praising and rewarding outstanding collectives and individuals, and awarding the "For the cause of Vietnamese journalism" Medal.

Accordingly, the Quang Binh Provincial Journalists Association will host the 19th Quang Binh Press Awards Ceremony in 2024, to honor impressive press works that truthfully reflect the province's political , economic, cultural and social issues in the past year.

The highlight of the series of activities is the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, scheduled to be held on June 21.

Mr. Hoang Huu Thai, Chairman of the Quang Binh Provincial Journalists Association, said that this series of activities is an opportunity to review the glorious tradition, important and great contributions, and noble mission of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press in the struggle for national independence and unification, building and defending the Fatherland. At the same time, it commends and recognizes the achievements of the past 100 years of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press in general and the Quang Binh press in particular; thereby determining the direction and tasks for the province's press activities in the new period," Mr. Thai expected.
