Fishing boat BD 96774 TS with 12 fishermen from Binh Dinh province was fishing in the Hoang Sa archipelago, more than 400 nautical miles from Da Nang, when one fisherman was paralyzed on the right side, suspected of having a stroke. The captain of boat BD 96774 TS called the shore to request support and first aid. Through information exploitation, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (under the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration - Ministry of Construction ) determined: the injured crew member's name is Nguyen Luy, born in 1971, in Tam Quan Nam ward, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh; the weather in the area has winds of level 4 - 5, waves of 1 - 2 meters high; the boat's location is far offshore, there are no ships around the area capable of providing emergency support.

Through the Coastal Information Station system, the Center connected and requested the 115 Da Nang Emergency Center to organize a remote medical consultation for the ship BD 96774 TS. Through the diagnosis, the patient suffered a stroke with serious symptoms and a poor prognosis; the doctors instructed the crew on board to perform first aid for the victim in an attempt to save his life. At the same time, the Center requested the fishing ship BD 96774 TS to immediately stop production and change course to the mainland to bring the patient back for emergency treatment.
SAR 631 ship on rescue mission
Given the patient's critical condition, the Center consulted and was directed by the National Civil Defense Steering Committee and the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration to dispatch SAR 631 ship to leave Da Nang , on a journey to meet fishing boat BD 96774 TS to take advantage of the time to transfer the patient to a specialized search and rescue ship. At 20:40 on June 22, 2025, SAR 631 ship left the bridge for emergency rescue, on board were 02 doctors from the Da Nang 115 Emergency Center carrying medical equipment and a number of medical drugs to serve the patient's emergency.

At 10:57 on June 23, SAR 631 approached ship BD96774 TS at position 17-25N; 111-55E, 240 nautical miles from Da Nang, brought doctors and rescue workers onto the fishing boat to perform first aid on the spot and transferred the patient to the emergency room on SAR 631 for further treatment. SAR 631 is currently urgently on its way to shore, expected to bring the patient to the Central Wharf in Da Nang at 01:00 on June 24, 2025.
