Luong Son urgently overcomes damage caused by floods

Due to the impact of heavy rains that have lasted since October 27, combined with increased flood discharge from reservoirs, the Luy River rose, causing widespread flooding in Luong Son commune (Lam Dong).

Many villages in Luong Son commune were flooded on a large scale.

Local authorities have been proactively implementing many measures to respond, overcome damage, and support people to soon stabilize their lives.

According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Luong Son commune, up to now, the whole commune has 650 flooded houses, concentrated in the villages of Luong Trung, Luong Tay, Luong Binh, Luong Hoa, Luong Dong, Luong Nam, Luong Bac and Tan Son.

More than 600 houses and many crop areas were flooded.

About 650 hectares of crops including rice, corn, vegetables and fruit trees were flooded; 14 cows, 15 pigs, and more than 680 poultry were swept away. The flood also flooded 3 sections of National Highway 1A through the commune, with water depths of 0.6-1 m in some places, obstructing traffic and damaging some machinery and production equipment of the people.

As soon as the flood occurred, the Civil Defense Command of Luong Son commune mobilized local forces including police, military and militia to coordinate in evacuating people, property and livestock out of dangerous areas along the river.

The commune police force guides traffic flow to ensure smooth and safe traffic for vehicles passing through National Highway 1A.

The commune traffic police force is on duty at deeply flooded areas, organizing traffic flow, guiding vehicles to pass safely, and at the same time blocking and warning people not to move through dangerous areas.

Previously, the Luong Son commune authorities proactively deployed prevention measures, broadcast announcements on the loudspeaker system so that people could promptly grasp the situation, proactively move assets and livestock out of low-lying areas; at the same time, asked people not to stay in huts and fields along rivers and streams, especially in the Luy river basin area.

Currently, the commune government continues to maintain a 24/7 duty to monitor the flood situation, mobilize the "4 on-site" force to participate in overcoming the consequences and count the damage to have timely support plans.
