Having a decent house is the dream of many households in Luong Phi commune.

Luong Phi is one of the five heroic communes of the People's Armed Forces of Tri Ton district. The commune has a natural area of 4,115 hectares, a population of nearly 13,000 people, of which the Khmer ethnic minority accounts for about 30%. In recent years, the local government has determined to build the former revolutionary base area into a developed area. In addition to focusing on socio -economic investment, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Luong Phi commune pay special attention to social security work, taking care of families with revolutionary contributions, poor and near-poor households..., especially taking care of housing.

In 2023 - 2024, Luong Phi commune mobilized social resources to build over 130 Great Unity houses, Love houses, Gratitude houses... for poor households, near-poor households, and families with difficult policies. Support sources from the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction; mobilized resources from VicePresident of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and district; organizations and individuals inside and outside the province.

In early 2025, the Prime Minister launched the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Under the direction of the District Party Committee, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tri Ton District, Luong Phi Commune seized the opportunity, proactively reviewed, developed a specific plan, and resolutely implemented it. The main goal is "Not to let any household continue to live in unsafe and dilapidated houses". Because a solid roof is not only a place to avoid the sun and rain, but also the foundation for a stable life.

In early February 2025, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Luong Phi commune started to build 44 new houses and repair 3 houses. Of these, 9 houses are for policy families; 13 houses are for poor and near-poor households benefiting from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction; 25 houses are for the remaining poor and near-poor households. After 2 months of construction, 47 dilapidated houses were replaced by 47 solid houses.

Mr. Chau Tach (Head of the People's Committee of Ta Miet Hamlet) said: "Thanks to the attention of superiors and the cooperation of the community, Ta Miet Hamlet has eliminated 8 temporary and dilapidated houses. People now have solid roofs, work with peace of mind, and have a stable life". Mr. Chau Tuch's family (65 years old) is a near-poor household in Ta Miet Hamlet. He has lost his ability to work and lives on the support of his 2 children who work as workers in Ho Chi Minh City. Being supported with a new home, Mr. Chau Tuch was moved: "This is my dream house for a long time. I thank the attention of the Party and the State for helping me have a house".

The houses in the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses always focus on quality, ensuring long-term sustainability and safety. The construction method is flexible, households negotiate with the builders, but there is close supervision by the steering committee and local monitoring team. Each new house is supported with 60 million VND, repair 30 million VND; people contribute from 5 to 70 million VND. The new houses ensure the "3 hard" standards, have toilets, and a usable area of 32 - 90m².

Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Luong Phi Commune, Luu Thi My Linh, said that with the determination of the entire political system and the support of organizations and individuals, the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the locality was completed after 2 months. "The program brings confidence and motivation for families in difficult circumstances to continue to strive to improve their lives. In the coming time, the locality will continue to mobilize philanthropists and businesses to support disadvantaged groups outside the beneficiary program, aiming to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the commune," Ms. Linh shared.
